Default Anyone else waiting for Red Dead Redemption?

It'll be released this Friday (ps3 and the other consoles) and from what i can gather it uses the same engine as GTA4 but with a much bigger map
(3x the size of the San Andreas) and set in the wild wild west. Think horses, saloons, cowboy shootouts, lever shotguns, Mexicans, Indians,
train and stagecoach robberies, heaps of different wild animals and all that cool stuff.

There's also a new 'bullet time' type thing. I won't try to explain it, its in the video

Check it out...

I could find a hundred great pics but these work...

Yep I'm hanging out for it to get released, but as uni exams are coming up I probably won't get it for a month or so.

As I write this post I'm actually meant to be working on a 4,000 word essay due tomorrow (I get distracted easily), so yeah wouldn't want red dead distracting me from exam revision

Yup, only really found out about it about a month ago when I was looking at something else from the PS3 games thread but I'll be getting it Friday - unfortunately my last official day off on a month holiday. :(

I feel your pain.

I have a 2000 and a 1200 word word essay due at the end of the week and i haven't started either plus exams coming up that i haven't been planning for

I should ignore this until after the exams, maybe i'll pick up a copy and not open it or just stay away from it completely.

Got it on Pre-Order can't wait, looks fantastic and from what i have seen online play should be 100% better than GTA.

Us PC gamers are becoming a rarer and rarer breed. Although PC is a MUCH better way to play games, with total upgradability and everything, we just get shafted too often. My latest issue with this comes from Alan Wake PC version getting canned, XBox Only.

This game looks absolutely astounding, and hopefully it will see a PC release. And hopefully it will be a DECENT release and not just a shotty "throw it on the PC to get a bit more cash" type port that so many games are becoming on the PC these days.

I have been PC gaming for 20 years and I am grossly frustrated by the PC being ignored by consumers and developers alike.

I had to wait an extra year to get GTAIV on the PC. GTA rose to prominence on PC.
The market for consoles has increased because to play decent games nowadays, you have to build a PC purposely for gaming really. It is easier just to get a console and connect it into the TV.

You have CPL, and you also have Scorpion Technology which each have systems. The work is done for you!

ARgh...pity. Thank heavens I will always have Star Control II and Dune II.
The only consoles that had either of those games were the Panasonic 3DO (Star Control II), and the Sega Mega Drive (Mega Drive/Mega CD).

Thank you, at least somebody else agrees with me on the whole PC getting ignored thing. So many people are like "just go get a console". No thanks!

GTA was something to do with an "exclusivity" thing Sony signed with Rockstar. Basically giving Sony the rights to the game for a certain amount of time, and no other platform was able to have it. A shame, but also understandable, as you know it WILL be coming to PC at some stage. Like the two "expansions" just released for GTA4, and I use the term "expansions" lightly as you can play them without GTA4.

My PC is in no way a top of the line rig, it was built with gaming in mind, but also on a tight budget. It plays most things I throw at it just fine. And it has an XBox 360 controller straight into a USB port. Surely it can't be that hard to code a game for both XBox and PC.

Anyway, sorry bout the thread hijack. Back on main topic. Damn that game looks awesome.

Reminds me alot of that old game "Outlaws". I'm another pc fan, and dont own any consoles, and i find it very frustrating that no games are coming out! I check out eb games, and that "game" shop, and there is just nothing new around. It sucks.

EDIT:: It needs to have first person viewing avaliable too, COD style.

I dont think PC fans have anything to cry about, Diablo 3 is one Ill be getting for PC as it would be difficult to play on PS3 anyway.

This game looks incredible, I was actually pretty disappointed with GTA4 so this should make up for it. Definitely getting it on PS3 as it's just the type of game that will play better on console, plus the PS3 version has some exclusive extras. IGN has scored it 9.7 which is an INCREDIBLE SCORE and while many are suspect that Rockstar pay for good press i'm sure the game is still awesome.

Oh and for the guys complaining about PC games not being in stores now; download a magical little program called Steam. It is awesome. You get to keep the games forever and they are MUCH cheaper (when you get them on special).

Like GTA4, will Australians get a weak M rated version of the world wide R rated version?

Though I do not know for sure, I would say, 'almost definitely'.

Given Australia's stance on anything, should we all be in our cribs with a bottle of warm milk between our lips?
Kevin Rudd can read us a bedtime story about how he's going to make Australia great. I'll have no trouble getting to sleep. :P

Couldn't you just buy it from an overseas store? Ive been told the regions dont matter on the PS3.

well EB rand me and said I could pick mine up now. Will get stuck into it after work. As for edited version. The only difference between GTA4 aus and GTA4 everywhere else was some sexual stuff. I of have both copies and did not notice anything different apart from sex acts and the strip club. If there is a major difference found between ours and the worldwide version of RDR then I will import it.

Can't seem to do anything with the floozies in the saloon - I couldn't believe the issue with GTA4 was picking up a prostitute and have the car bouncing up and down.

Enjoying Red Dead Redemption at the moment - although every review I read said it wasn't a Western version of GTA4, I was skeptical.. they were right though, completely different feel.

Sadly I'm stuck grinding out a poker game heads up with a guy that folds every time I bet. :(

You aren't thinking of San Andreas are you? My OS copy of GTA4 shows the ladies actions inside the car pretty clearly, not just the car rocking as it did in the earlier games.

GTA4 was edited for consoles as they didn't think they would get it through the OFLC with certain bits left in.

When it was time for the PC release, they didn't bother cutting anything, submitted to OFLC and managed to get the full uncut thing through with the MA15+ rating.

San Andreas had the whole "Hot Coffee" scandal. My copy has the code still in the game, as I bought the PC version on release day before it was pulled from shelves to have it removed.

I'm playing it too right now but disagree, to me it feels very much like grand theft auto. I'm only about 15 mins in but so far enjoying it .
