Default Recommended tuners in Perth?

Asked this in the ECU forum but no one has answered it yet: https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11493617

Can someone recommend a good tuner in Perth for my 220kW AU please? I've just rebuilt the top end: ported the GT40P heads, new (bigger) Crow cam, bumped the compression 1/4 point, Hurricane headers etc.

Got the engine running and seems to go hard, but I'd like to get it flash tuned on a rolling dyno. Cheers.

Hey mate
Can't comment on the AU specifically but I'd try either Monstatorque or Xtreme Ford Tuning for anything ford related in Perth as a starting point

As @willo56 stated, monsta torque are highly rated.

Thanks for the tips guys. Unfortunately Monsta Torque doesn't do Windsor V8s – only Barras and the later model overhead cammed V8s.

I'll make a few more calls . . .

Windsor V8's, you're better off trying these guys lerace Automotive. Windsor Specialists. Seen lots of good work from budget to high end work. Sorted out my XR8.

Cheers mate. I'll give IErace a call tomorrow.

I did speak to a few dyno places today and the only one that said it could tune my Windsor was BPT: https://www.bptmotorsport.com.au/

They said they had loads of AU Windsor base tunes and a flash tune would cost $850-$1200.

I called Xtreme Ford Tuning but no-one seemed able to help.

I also emailed BPR in Victoria to see if they had a base tune they could supply to Monsta Torque to get them going as otherwise I'd be up for $250 an hour – and it was like the old "how long is a pice of string" equation as to how long it would take to tune starting from scratch.

I don't need to wring every last horsepower out of it, I just want a stable tune to idle and run the new cam and headwork efficiently.

Had my Ute Tuned at BPT last year come up mint. Runs like a beaut.

Just has full exhaust and was running a bit crappy. Tuned it runs well and sounds mint.

Paid $1200.

Spoke to IERace but they don't have a chassis dyno. They suggested Xtreme Ford Tuning.

So far it looks like BPT is the only place prepared to come to the party.

I'll add a bit more of my two cents.. I previously had my ute tuned by Streetbuilt.

But I found that the tune was a bit on the lean side. I rode with that tune for about 4 years.
I had a slightly leaky Gasket on a Header so I got BPT to change the gaskets and while I was there we discussed some of the running etc so we agreed chuck it on the dyno and lets see what its going like.

Very professional nice dyno set up too ran the car about 8 runs or so and I was smiling each run was making a little more HP. When we were done said take it for a test drive before I pay and I did that's when I realized what I had been driving for 4 years wasn't even that great and this ran so much better.

Windsor's don't have to much free HP they are already pretty much peak from factory but smoothing out the power and gaining more torque everywhere is indeed what changes alot about the car. Full exhaust helps alot tho especially higher flowing cats.

But that aside there is still alot to gain. Fuel Consumtion is better too.

I say give it a go and let us all be updated if you do.

If you decide to go with BPT be very careful and cautious.
Make sure you get a detailed, written quote before the car is handed over.
Also stipulate that you are to be contacted, quoted and must authorize any other work that maybe required.
It could get quite costly otherwise and your car will be held in lieu of payment.
Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions.

OK, thanks. I appreciate the heads-up. I've already had a bad experience with the heads on the car when the machinists didn't heed my instructions and assumed they knew better than me (they didn't) when converting to a set of LS beehive springs. It got a bit messy, though at least they owned their mistakes in the end and we salvaged the heads with a set of spring locators.

I will drop you a PM.

Unfortunately at this juncture BPT is the only tuner to come to the party, so it looks like I don't have many options.

On a happier note, the car is running after a one-year rebuild and I'm really happy with the engine, even though she's running a bit lean now with the new cam and head work.

For my exhaust I'm running Hurricane Headers with 2.5" collectors into 2.5" hi-flow cats, and then the system steps down to a twin 2.25" system with H-pipe and Redback mufflers. Sounds pretty good and seems to go OK.

Is it Bluestreak performance? Daniel?

He used to always have converstations on here with Xtreme Ford Tuning.(Simon?)

Yrs ago, he had a monster worked TE50 i believe. https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11195321

If anything, a message or a call. He maybe able to point you in the right direction.

Nice build but that's not a Windsor – and that is my problem. Trying to find someone who can tune my Windsor. Everyone seems to only do Barras and overhead cammed V8s these days. Windsor's aren't rocket science, so I'm not sure why it's so hard.

He went to the terminator after he'd maxed his windsor.

Anyways, you could also try a piggy back. ie/ unichip. I'm sure there are a few dealers/tuners in WA

Thanks for clearing that up mate.

And thanks for the heads-up on the Unichip - I'll have a read through it and educate myself. It might be a better way to go.

Whilst searching for Unichip dealers in WA I found this mob: https://www.ecuwest.com.au/ecuwest-d...ecu-remapping/

Any ideas about them?

How about the place that tuned this guy's car so well that it went 4-times faster than he expected and it was tuner's fault that he got clocked at over 240km/h

Hey Chrysler,
Streetbuilt have shut shop unfortunately, I had my previous XR8 Sprint built through them and they did great work. I've spoken to XFT and they don't do Windsor anymore and have been finding the same problem you are finding here in Perth.

I have been dealing with BPR myself in getting my ECU flashed for manual - I'll PM you with info.

BPT for me the jury is out, lots of stories from both sides. Let me know how you go.

Rich

Ah, a tuner is now the least of my worries. I just punted a tow ball taking the car for its first official cruise down south when I hit someone who suddenly slammed on their brakes when we both took off from a green light.

Fark!@ Anyone have a spare AU XR nose cone or knows a really, really good plastic welder???

Huh?

Did you miss the part where he said he needs a retune to suit the new cam he has fitted?
