Default Crossed over to the other side

Mainly due to a local dealer I traded my 2011 FG for a 2014 Calias V V8. The local dealer had the last of their F6s for 65K. I wanted it but said 55K was the Ford price. They said this one comes with the number plates F6 and the boss won't separate. I was ****ed off. Went for a drive to distract me but called at the Holden Dealer for a look. No intention of buying one.

Ended up getting a Calais V8 sat nav, sunroof, leather etc demo, tint, mats,5 year warranty, 5 year road side, 3 year fixed ($185) servicing, 52K on the road
Nice car. The FG was perfect, tuned, trans cooler etc etc but apart from missing this forum, I love the V8.

Bob

VF is a good piece of kit and the 6L is a fun donk.

I suspect more and more people will jump ship due to the end of fpv and dealers trying to squeeze them for every penny.

That's gotta be frustrating. Numberplates are NOT worth $10K. How can the salesman justify saying that a numberplate is worth nearly 20% of the car itself?

If you buy a special car like an F6, then you know you've got something awesome. You don't need a numberplate to remind you what you've got. Note: I'm not knocking anyone here who has got a custom plate for their pride and joy, but I just can't see the value in a $10K numberplate).

Also, that salesman's boss just cost them a sale. Good one!

Is the Holden offer actually 'fixed' coz isn't the Ford offer 'capped'. If that is the case, then you are not comparing apples with apples.

Lets not forget Ford give you 12 months roadside assistance with each service.

I don't know why you don't buy a Holden CSV8 you have been talking about it for the last 4 years. Man up and do it.

From http://www.ford.com.au/myfordCPS

2. What is covered under myFord Capped price Servicing
The applicable myFord Capped Price will cover the standard items in each Scheduled Service where the Eligible Vehicle has been used under 'Normal' driving conditions (as set out in the Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide for A and B services). Vehicles that have been used in severe or unusual driving conditions, as set out in the Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide as C Services, may require additional labour, additional items, or additional servicing at more frequent intervals. Any additional labour, items and servicing will not be covered in the myFord Capped Price.
The standard items in each Scheduled Service are
(a) labour;
(b) parts (subject to condition 3 below)
(c) lubricants; and
(d) sundries which includes items such as oil and waste recycling and or removal, workshop supplies etc.
Additional items notated in the service schedules in the Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide that are time based such as brake fluid replacement and coolant change will be provided as separate items to the myFord Capped Price published on the Ford website at www.ford.com.au/myfordcps
It is your responsibility to ensure that you present your vehicle for servicing at the intervals recommended for each Scheduled Service. If you miss any Schedule Service, additional work may be identified which is not included in the myFord Capped Price.
3. myFord Capped Price Servicing does not include the following items:
Directional tyre rotation where required;
Repair of accident damage to any component of the vehicle;
Additional maintenance due to modification from original specification;
Normal wear and tear consumable items requiring additional maintenance (including but not limited to brake pads replacement, fuses, wiper blades, batteries, tyres, wheel alignment adjustment);
Items that are identified as requiring more frequent attention depending on operating conditions (as described in the Ford Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide C Service Conditions);
Any item of labour, parts or fluids which is not specified in the A and B service schedules in the Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide;
Air conditioners filter replacement;
Anything not specified in the A and B service schedules in the Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide;
Additional maintenance and repairs that may be recommended by your Authorised Ford Dealer to suit your individual driving characteristics;
Service or maintenance of non-genuine Ford parts;
Service, fitment or maintenance of any accessories, including Ford accessories;
Replacement of items that are purely based upon time such as brake fluid or coolant changes. These items will be identified as a separate charge to the published myFord Capped Price.
Please note: Participating Dealers are required to advise you if any additional service or maintenance work is required. You should be informed prior to that work being undertaken and your consent should be requested and obtained before the Participating Dealer undertakes the additional service or maintenance work.

It is capped. Like everything these days, it is subject to certain conditions, as per above.

Again, is the Holden product actually 'fixed' or is it capped? If you are trying to compare a 'fixed' product versus a 'capped' product, you are not comparing apples with apples.

Just as a comparison, the 75,000km servicing on my Territory cost me a total of $237.77 and the 135,000km servicing on my Falcon G6 cost me $311.21. I think the variance between your experience and mine comes down to choice of dealer, and your experience is not necessarily what others experience.

From holden website

Quote:
In addition to the 3000Km or 3 month inspection, eligible vehicles with a warranty start date after the 1st of April 2012, are entitled to receive up to the first four standard scheduled services within the first three years or 60,000Kms (whichever comes first) at the applicable published maximum capped price service price. The program covers all items specified under the standard service schedules for normal operating conditions for each vehicle type specified in the Service and Warranty booklet, including parts, labour, fluids and any applicable workshop charges.

It's a Holden fixed priced service. All that is required to meet the manufacturers warranty is that the vehicle is serviced as per the maintenance schedule; so if you bring your Holden in at the recommended intervals, the dealer will only charge $185.

However, if you miss a service date or go over the kilometres there may be extra costs involved. Or if you decide to accept the dealer workshops suggested extra services, such as injector flush, power steering flush, and so on, then there will also be extra costs involved.

It's just like a MacDonalds value meal - $5.99 burgher with fries and drink. Do you want to size up, add an extra beef paddy, change the drink.

The Ford fixed price services on the Supercharged V8 are pretty damn high. I prefer to try and negotiate the non fixed price service to save money!

Good luck with the Calais, they look nice. If I went to the dark side it would most probably be for a sportswagon thingo for the other half.

It is fixed, guaranteed, capped etc price on the STANDARD service, you don't get more for nothing just cause they happened to find something else that's broken.

Its like getting a quote on new tyres, balance and wheel alignment and then whinging that they found out that one of your mags are crack and didn't replace it at their cost.
