Default Next gen Mondeo/ USDM Fusion mid-size sedan

As expected it looks like the new mid-size Ford sedan will use the new design language previewed by the Evos Concept.

I can't say I'm particularly keen on the shape of the nose. The current front end looks better. That said, from what I can tell, the rest of the car looks fantastic.

The MC Mondeo rear styling update looks good but I'm not so sure about the front. However, my favourite Ford at the moment is the Fiesta - our neighbour has a Zetec in "Ford" blue and it looks great.

They're saying that the next gen Fusion may debut as early as next year!

Yeah, the new Mondeo was originally due in 2012 but it looks like this may be late as it's now being engineered in the US so the Fusion will probably be the first "Mondeo". If that makes sense.

Its probably a joint-development between Ford in the US and Europe.

Under One Ford, the Mondeo will be global just like the new Focus and to some extent, the Fiesta.

The next Mondeo/ USDM Fusion/ Lincoln MKZ is most likely using an updated version of the (european) EUCD platform used by the current Mondeo.

The current USDM Fusion is based on a modified version of the previous Mazda 6 platform, which will eventually be discontinued.

The current Mazda 6 was also meant to use the same platform but they decided to update the 6 instead, possibly because the Mazda engineers didn't like how heavy it is!

The Mondeo's EUCD platform also has a much longer wheelbase than the Mazda 6.
2850 mm vs 2725 mm.

PS: ...but Mazda did adopt Ford's control blade rear suspension on the 6.

Ford Australia has actually been involved in some of the development work for the CD4 platform.

Here's a chop I did, I originally posted this in the CarSpyShots forum.

"Here's what I think the next Mondeo/ USDM Fusion will look like based on the spy photos and the information that new Fords will use the new global design langauge previewed by the Evos Concept."

PS: I'll try to update it when more info and spy photos come out.

So are we to assume the MC is the last model in the current shape, normally an upgrade model is released in November of each alternate year!

Most likely, I have a feeling if they will give the current Mondeo any more updates, it will probably be limited to trim, options or standard features.

PS: Follow up to my previous chop.
A version with rear hips.

Each major revision of the Mondeo is normally in production for about 6 years, so the next is due to 2013. There is mid-life facelift, which came out in Europe in 2010 and is the MC. The MB was not a facelift, just something that Ford AU made up.
