Hi I was wondering if someone here could help me.
I just purchased an 89 Telstar Tx5 ghia and its beautiful. It had 206,000 on the clock and has been well taken care of. However there are two problems that I have found since I started driving it. 1. The car doesn't want to move sometimes from a stopped position, you almost have to force it to go...it doesn't happen all the time. I have a feeling its the transmission in need of a service. It also drops out of power or wont engage when driving along. I think this is also related to the transmission needing a service. 2. And the most painful problem is that it beeps when I go over 100kms. Which would be all well and good but I live in between two towns and the speed limit to both is 110kms and the blasted car beeps at me the whole way. How do I switch of the speed indicator that beeps? Ta in advance Vanessa |

transmisson must be slipping or losing oil pressure so a service
lucky to get 200,000 km out of a gearbox other fords are set and cant be changed so they beep an auto electrictian may be able to fit a reset button somewhere or find a way of disconnecting the beeper

If you have the vehicle's manual it should state it in there how to disengage the speed alert.

I suggest you have the automatic be looked at by an automatic specialist
somewhere in the dash instruments is a reset button for the beeps to go away I hope you have an owners manual also..if not pop into the nearest ford dealers service division

OK I have booked her in to the ford service place on friday as we are outback qld. They said that the beep is controled by the ECU and that they can hook it to a computer to reset it...does that sound right? anyway I will let you all know how it goes.
