I got an ef series 2 fairmont dual fuel (std not ghia so no tickford engine:( ), and yeah I have about 63 usable litres and depending on the price I find $30-$35 to fill from empty, for city driving I get about 350-375 km out of a tank and I'll put my hand up to being fairly lively and when I hit the highway I can get 450-475 out of a tank and my poor girls just clocked 250000k so shes no longer a spring chicken, I certainly havent looked back cos its cheaper to run then by previous 1.5 or 1.6 litre cars

I had my previous EF converted and other than a through minor installation issues, it ran beautifully. I was getting about 340 kays on 65 litres of gas, in purely stop start city driving.

Keep in mind the Tickford LPG wagon's scuba-style tank is considerably smaller in capacity.

I get about 400kms when the fuel light starts to come on. I usually fill up within 10kms or so and it generally takes 55L. Probably about the cheapest car to run you can get apart from a biodiesel.
I bought my EL for $3k a year ago, and its been faultless (knocks on wood) Only the tank needed to be recertified which cost $220.

I get 350kms off a tank, mostly spirited driving, you will have to look after it a lot more ie. servicing. and ffs don't go for the simple mixer ring setup in the TB as it is a restriction both on gas and petrol. Go for Gra or injection.... the newer, less restrictive systems.

There is a loss of power when its on gas, but nothing to call home about. Plus, if you really need more power you just flick it back on to petrol I get 350ks out of my EF 5litre.

holy crap my fuel econ. is bad.
"i heard you can empty an LPG tank in 50km" haha, not quite. my normal fuel econ mixed city and fway driving gets me about 280-300km out of a gas tank. for comparison, i use to get 380-420 out of a tank of 98oct. i can empty a gas tank in about 230k you have to understant though, i rarly drive with space between the pedal and floor. only up to the speed limit though. lol on that mark, i finally got my first speeding ticket- 106 on princes highway coming to melbourne from geelong. i laughed. |
