Default well done Cabramatta police

An 82 year old veteran had his medals stolen leading up to Anzac day , the Cabramatta police chipped in to buy him replicas so he would have something to wear for the march. top points lads
this thread is to praise the police actions not to set up a lynch mob, if you have nothing positive to contribute don't bother posting

Theft is bad in any case but you'd have to a very dirty person to steal medals from a veteran and especially this time of year. A very nice thing for the police to do

medals are worth quite a lot these days, especially once that are rare, thieves seem to be targeting them more and more. I have mine locked away in a safe and only wear replicas.

Well done to the police, would have made the old blokes day a whole lot better.

My mate just got back from Timor and he has replicas as well. I'm guessing this is why replicas exist but you probably couldn't imagine this happening back in the day as they say.

Commendable that they have helped the elder gent. and of course police are human too. many would have had relatives/parents that would have served. but police themselves also fight crime in their own right and wear medals of bravery etc.

Good on them for doing that!
In saying that though, I hope the originals turn up.

It is good that the Police did that for this old bloke. It is a sad thing that people feel the need to steal from others.
My Father had his stolen off the ship he was on in 1945 and we got him all but2 of them remade in 1980, I have them still and his set of Miniature Replicas.

I was watching the ABC TV today and there is a bloke named LtCol Glyn Llanwarne, OAM.
He watches out for medals coming up for sale and oft times gets them back and gives back to the families of the original owners of them. He may be able to help?

Well done to the Police on a very nice gesture, to often people are quick to hammer the cops, but well done to them for a nice act.
