Exclamation New car sales March 2019 - vFacts

Lowest march since 2014. However Holden's lowest March recorded since 1948!

Holden in trouble, “big time”. This is just not sustainable.

I wonder where that “Commodore will recover to about 2,000 units per month” dude is ?

Holden need a good spread of models. This is where their problem is. Acadia is doing nothing as are the other models. Colorado isn't popular really. They really need a halo model.

They could start with the model having a more realistic price tag for a Holden brand. They have the Ford mindset that they think their cars are premium.

Isn't that a little concerning that one model makes up circa 50% of your numbers?

Also Ecosport and Mondeo - chopping block for sure?

Ford Australia went from being the Falcon car company to the Ranger car company

Honorable mention for a halo car (Mustang) contesting high up on the list.

Focus sales seem reasonable considering its challenges.

Ford Endura is doing well. I could see Ford becoming a top 3 brand one day. Toyota, Mazda and Ford. If they get Focus and Escape up to sales they deserve with the new models, they will knock off Hyundai and Mitsubishi. Hyundai will eventually sink without a dual cab and they have lost their value/warranty edge.

Mazda and soon-Ford have nailed their lineups.

Of course Ford wants better sales from all of its models, that will come when they fix
Ford Europe and by extension, the cars and SUVs we get. Until then, Ford will gladly take
the high profits from Ranger, Everest, Mustang and now Endura (4,808 sales out of, 6,160)

So 80% of Ford's range is made up of vehicles in the $48K-$70K range, that's more important
to Ford than selling 9,000 vehicles a month for the same nett profit.

Lots of new models on the way for Ford Europe and hopefully more will find their way here.

Interesting that new Escape looks like a big Focus, that styling will be echoed in the new
Edge (Endura) Puma and Ecosport, hybrid versions would be a welcome addition to our market.

I reckon Hyundai will extend their warranty at least out to 7 years to match their sister brand, Kia. Like you say, it is an edge they have lost now that most others also do 5years.

I think you might find that Hyundai and Kia will continue to do what's required to get them in to a competitive position... if it's 7 year wty for Hyundai or 10yr for Kia, don't rule it out. As far as Kia goes, the CEO even said that as soon as another main stream player goes for 7 years they will immediately discuss a move to 10 years.

Keeping all that in mind, once both brands get the ute they so desperately need, they will explode.

I wish Ford could get themselves sorted but not sure they will be a solid top 3 for sometime.

SUD Astra production has stopped. No Astra figures in a few months time. Rumour is it will be replaced by Chev Cavalier.

I see quite a few Barina "demos" on dealers forecourts in my Travels.

But they would've been counted back late last year I would say..
