whats the recomended weight for a falcon lsd?

ok cheers i was looking at some penrite stuff said it was for h/d and lsd,s was called limslip for memory(i think) but there was 2 weights but damo cleared that one up

80w/90 is for the open wheelers.

LSX90 for the LSD.

and also putt in some anti chatter diff oil additive.. makes it a bit less likely to start making noise.

On the topic of LSD oils. If a LSD is starting to single spin in certain situations is it worth replacing the oil or is the LSD shagged?

Thats what I use. I've just done my first diff oil change to Penrite 10/10ths SYN GEAR 80/140 and it seems to of made a big difference. Doesnt feel as sloppy in the diff now.
I dont think I'll use anything else.

I use Penrite all through my car ie diff, gearbox and engine.

the standard and single spinner are the same,the lsd has two cone shaped clutches which the axles slide through,,when you loose traction in one wheel it transfers the power to the other,there by limiting the slip,where as a standard or single spinner will just spin one wheel.

Sorry to drag this thread out.
I swapped the fluid in my diff awhile ago (3.27LSD) Went down to Sprint auto, told him what I wanted and just to give me the best stuff they had...

i use the penrite limslip 80w gear. seemed to help the first time i changed the oil, but my diff is well and truly rooted now.

Redline is clearly the best available but then for the price isn't practicle for most.
Don't much around with that light wieght crap ford recomends, go the 'Penrite Limslip 85W-140'. I've been using this oil in LSD's eversince I've had them and I got 2 years out of a second hand diff ( most of the guys in QLD know how I treat my diffs ).

Any good diff and gearbox builder should recomend this to you.

The additive is a friction modifier - it just makes the oil 'more slippery' - so it will make your LSD more likely to single wheel...just use straight gear oil. LS90 or LSX90 is reccomended, though anything that says it is for BW LSDs is fine - my preference is the heavier the better...
