Whats your opinion on 'the best' streetable cam for a N/A e-series windsor from all the feedback youve heard and what you've seen LTDHO?

Im just looking for something to give my LTD a bit of a rumble (with pacies and twin 2.5") and a little more poke!

Thanks

I'll second w4yn3's 2031 option. Although mine still isn't fitted yet.

Slightly o/t, would a 2031 still work well with a stroker setup? I'm tossing up some ideas at the moment & the EB is coming off the road very soon...

Mine is stroked and blown (my moter Dave)
The cam is still fine. With a stroker you will loose top end rpm but you will have more Power by then anyway.

lol @ having to clarify you're talking about your motor. Sadly I needed that reminder anyway!

With the cam being a mid-range torque/hp unit, I guess a stroker with its strong low-down torque would further promote this cam's characteristics in the mid-range?

Oh how I envy your setup... And I can't believe I failed to connect that you A) have a 2031 and B) your blown Windsor is also a stroker :

Out of intrest, whats the idle like on the crane 2030/2031??
Is it nice and lumpy?

I've done dyno simulations with this cam, and it has a very strong torque curve, even with the standard stroke windsor... the 347 version has an insanely large torque curve!

Bought mine for $400ish, not interested in selling at this point though sorry, and if I did, it'd be the same as what I bought it for (packaging is unopened).

Can't remember who I bought it through, it was something like www.thehorsepowerfactory.com.au or similar. Hope that helps mate!

Crane 2030 and 2031 seem to be good cam's for the 5ltr. With the 2031 you are going to need 1.7 roller rockers as well as your pushrods measured to fit (unless you get adjustable roller rockers). The 2031 cam, is actually smaller and less agressive than the 2030 but for that cam you would need 1.6 RR.

Im not to sure about what the stock E7 springs can handle, but if they need replacing on gt40p's to handle a 2031 cam im pretty sure you will have to get stronger springs for the E7's. Have a look around using the search button, heaps of info on cam's, specs, combo's and requirements.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a cam change at all if I was running un-ported E7s.
Assuming you already have heads that flow more then those cool twisty straws, also have look at the Trickflow Stage 1, especially if your car is manual and you wouldn't mind a bit of a lump at idle.

I've got a 302 in a 1988 F150 with GT40p Heads. Looking for a new Cam, it is a 5 speed manual. My Block doesn't have roller lifters and it has done a few KM's, so I'm looking at swapping in a el bottom end.

Have you considered a stroker setup in that case?

I've built a couple of strokers, 331 & 347, before all with good sucess, this time I'm on a mission to stick with a 302 cube's. 5lt should be heaps for my performance goals.

any info on my piston question would be great!

Well I can't help with the pistons sorry, but surely the only difference between a roller 302 and a non-roller would be the cam and the lifters? Meaning you could keep most of your existing bottom end?
