As we all know, HSV tookover from where Peter Brock's HDT SV left off but was FPV as we know it, also kicked off by peter Brock's Austec?
Did the austec 'E' series cars lead to the EB GT? ..and the 'eb - au' series Tickford series of vehicles (Which wings wear a striking resemblance to the Austec Logo? and obviously retired and replaced by the current 'B' series FPV? |

I don't think so.
Using that logic, did Brock take over where Johnson left off with the turbo xe's??

The Tickford logo was designed well before Brocks logo on the EA's, which appeared on the British Sierra RS500.
Though you could probably say without Brocks HDT cars, there would not have been HSV and ultimately no FPV cars either. |

All very interesting.... but no.
Quite a few companies created "hot" EA's in a bid to get into the Ford performance market as a factory offered after market producer. I know of at least 5. Peter Brock, Tickford, Dick Johnson, Mick Webb and the mob doing the turbo EA's. In the end Tickford won. As for the wings.. Tickford have had them since 1820 or so.. http://www.btinternet.com/~aff/Tickf...sClub/hist.htm

So if red bull gives you wings, and falcons have wings....
Is this young lady trying to make a falcon?

Whoever started Tickford had some some sort of influence on FPV, but as usual, I stand to be corrected. Also, if Brocky started Tickford, we would've known about it!

So the Brock one had a wins logo too. If you think hard ( I know it's hard for some but try ) a falcon is a bird and last time I checked most birds ( except the blonde type ) have wings and fly. so a wings logo for a performance falcon is a no brainer after all we all know falcons fly and crummydores go like rockets ( they fall apart in stages )

so did the EA have a Polarizer?? I heard from a friend of an aunt of a eskimo that the XD had a prototype Polarizer in it? they say they stuck a couple of magnets on the exhaust pipes facing EXACTLY 22 degrees away from the summer solstice. Did the EB GT have a secret polarizer installed to give it the extra KW over a standard XR8? Theres a conspiracy in there somewhere!!

When I was a mere young pup I worked for a Ford dealership (EA to EL) and at that time had a lot to do with David Flint I think I just read the other day that David was a chief at FPV back in the days I knew him the chief was Howard Marsden ( if you remember, he was involved with Ford Dealer Team Moffat and Bond 1 and 2 back in the late 70's) so I wonder was FPV Davids brain child, I do know he was a great bloke and loved performance fords. So thats what I know anyway for what its worth. _

There is no doubt in my mind that the SVO's and the Brock specials and the Johnson specials have had an influience in what FPV is today.
But to say that Peter Brock is the father of FPV would be inaccurate. They were all part of an evolutionary timeline that really started IMO when Bill Bourke introduced the idea of the GT, and has grown to what we have today. |
