The time has come....
Finally i have a bit of $$$ and after literally years of contemplating cams im finally going to get one.... I've pretty much decided on a wade cam either a- 1004@14 or 1004@12 or 1636 What do people think is the best option???? Or any other brands of cam which are better??? My car is a EB 4.0lt with extractors 2.5" exhaust and all the other little bits and pieces... plugs, leads, intake ect. Also does anyone want to offer to install it for me (paying of course) or know of any good places to get it installed??? Western Suburbs Melbourne. Thanks all. Also what are the benefits of getting the car dyno tuned worth doing after getting the cam???? |

I hate to say it but big cam's for I6 engines go and see JMM, they are pricey but they work!
The cams you have are looking at are only mild at best, I would go the 1636, I had the prototype for this cam in my car and it work well, so with the small changes they made to it, it would be quite good and a bit more easy to live with day to day. |

What cams are available that are suited more towards lower rpm? As far as I know the 1636 starts kicking in at about 3000rpm which wouldnt be much use to me as i rarely rev past 4-4500rpm. Id also like to improve low down torque, being an auto with standard diff gears.

Personally I will be looking for something that kicks in at say ~2500. I still want to be able to cruise around and not use to much fuel, same goes for highway speeds. Am I right in assuming that a cam such as that crow one would stuff up your fuel economy?

Ive thought about it but i think id really need to do alot more research and more confidence pulling stuff apart before id attempt it.
As BradensEBxr6 asked, are there any wade or other regrind cams available with this sort of rev range? What about the part of the rev range not in the cams powerband? Does performance stay the same as a stock cam or is it like a trade-off? Edit: In regards with what Polyal said, will getting a cam with a lower rev range mean that your constantly using more fuel at those sort of rpm? Quote:
