Default MA/MB XR5 Petrol Fuel Pump Replacement

Has anyone got a detailed description or link to the process of replacing the fuel pump on a 2007-2010 Petrol XR5?

i am led to believe that the tank needs to be dropped, has anyone had any experiences with dropping the tank at home, and how difficult it was?

What pumps did you replace with, did you replace the whole swirl pot or just the pump and filter?

Default Re: MA/MB XR5 Petrol Fuel Pump Replacement

Full disclosure - I've not done an XR5 but have done a few other vehicles and besides one old vehicle they all have inspection holes under the rear seat cushion to do the job.

Remove the lower rear seat
Look for the access hole to the top of the fuel pump (remove cover if applicable)

disconnect the electrical connector
disconnect the fuel lines
Figure out the pump mounting assembly for removal.

If you don't see an inspection hole for the pump then you'll have to drop the fuel tank, typically there are two straps and you'd support the tank from underneath with a jack (best if it's near empty) remove the strap mounting bolt/clamp and lower the tank to access the pump.
