Talking 1ST Drags with Falcon

I finally got to go to the Drags last night at Willowbank and posted a time of 16.2 fastest run average 16.3 over the 7 runs, was hoping to hit the 15's but main problem was take off first run was with a Falcon xr6 n/a i think he had a lot better takeoff but once I hooked up at around 3000rpm I kept on par with him 2nd run run was with a magna and same thing take off UHHHH. After that me and my little brother faced off giving the old burnouts a good go and as far as I could see we did pretty well in that respect.
What am I to do now to get take off better any suggestions cash flow low at moment so moderate mods only?

Did anyone go to the drags if so what times were posted?
Any pics anywhere?

Track temp was 27 degrees and humidity was 45%
60 foot time 2.493
1/8 mile 10.741 at 69.17mph
1/4 mile 16.294 at 88.81
Was fun I know it wasnt the fastest car but who cares when your having fun in the burnouts which was my main aim cos I knew it wasnt fast enough to be a threat.

the mph is there for a 15 of some sort.

Did you try different take off techniques. Personally i take off around 2100 and usse handbrake to limit wheels spin.
Also how did u go about shifting (i assume its manual), did u miss any gears or struggle to engage them?

Tried taking off normal idle tried taking off at medium stall and heavy stall, is automatic as well, put in per mode and ran in that.

Good on you for getting out there and giving it a go.

With a bit of practice you'll be able to drop those 60ft times and be well into the 15s.

Simply putting the right foot flat on the accelerator and left foot flat on the brake doesnt work. The computer senses undue stress and heat put on transmission and engine and will adjust the position of the throttle (electronic throttle) hence making a dodgy bogged down launch. Best bet for a decent launch that i have found? Foot hard on brake, 3/4 throttle, and as soon as you see that green light ... nail it. Seems to work alright ...

Driving my car, and judging by *** in seat technique, i'd roughly put my car down to a 15.0-15.2 second car depending on conditions, maybe faster ... BA fairmont Ghia, Traction control, Advanced headers, Exhaust, TYphoon lower intake, XR6T upper intake. Might run a bit quicker without 18's on.

Hell no ... Its switchable, so i switch it off. The car acts like a total retard with it switched on, just cutting power to the back wheels and carrying on like a spaz.

With a bit of practise i am sure you can improve the 60' which is killing you at the moment.

remeber its all in the launch the TS tells us the car is good enough to do better with a good launch. its just practise. You should be able to get down to 2.3 for the 60' and this will get you into 15.9 at least I reckon.

Not a bad time, how much would the spare and jack weigh?

I know someone who has a stock ba xr6 auto, and i mean dead stock, who took it to the drags and ran a 15.1. I'l find out what the 60ft was.

falcon 73 ,i was out there sat night .wasn't a bad night for it pretty busy though.i seen you run a couple of times .looked like you were getting some bad wheelspin off the line.i had a few runs my first was the best a 15.1 or something ,would have been a bit better but i was short shifting couldnt see the tacho .had the sun in my eyes ,it near blinds you early on in the arvo,
a liitle trick to remember ,is pop your bonnet between runs and try and let it cool down as much as possible helps a bit .if i see you out there next time i'm out ,i'l come say g'day

I thought if you had a wheel and tyre package that was too large it would slow your launch.
