Default 3.23 lsd conversion

hey there does anyone know if you could bolt an ef 3.23 lsd straight into a 95 ef gli. its got a stocky at the moment, 3.08 i think? do i need to change anything like the speedo to accomodate the different ratios? any thoughts?

yep straight swap, but id go for a 3.45 at least!!!! you need to get your shift point changed, your speedo will be fine. otherwise it will hit the rev limiter underfull throttle :

psst: it's a manual ;) no auto shift pattern issues to worry about! (but get the corresponding speedo calibration cog/gear/whatever to suit the 3.23 ratio)

Diff should bolt up fine. Maybe buy it for the LSD and swap the 3.23s for some 3.9s?

You will also need the upper trailing arms as that makes the swap a heap easier and the correct speedo gear to get that right.

yer thanks fellas... i do a lot of highway driving so a higher ratio aint really wat i want... that first post made me think for a sec lol... im slowly building up the ef an i jus wanna get an idea of what i need...

Nothing wrong with the 3.23, it's what I put in my old EL for the same reason as you. Good compromise between highway economy and getting the thing off the line.

3.23's are a good ratio nothing wrong with them.

I've been in cars with 3.45's and 3.23's and didnt notice any diff.

All comes down to the driver.

If you want to see a noticeable difference go bigger like 3.7 4.11's but then there goes your freeway driving out the window.
