Hi all. Cant figure why I got done over quarter mile by my mates ls3 vf ssv with 352 rwkw done on same dyno as mine 2 days apart, his cammed cnc heads ect ect, naturally aspirated" when my gt 335 got tuned to 387 rwkw. I have 780 mm whilst he has 728nm. It's got me buggered I was shattered, mine auto his manual. How can this be, has anyone any idea? Yes it was high humidity in the 80's but his car also would have had to deal with that. Both cars full weight. ????? Please give me a clue lol ??????#$#$$@@??? Also rolling at 40 60 80 and standing start, he kicked my butt every time....

Could be a multitude of things, tyres, driver skill, reaction time, weight (are you heavier than him? Car weight? Amount of fuel in both cars). How much time difference are we talking? Would a humid night affect your S/c more than his N/A?? Heat soak would affect yours more than his also... Post the time slips (assuming this was done at a track..lol)

Closer gearing and less weight work in the VF's favour. What were the times, trap speeds, 60 footers, etc. for both? If dyno was on a different day, could also be a factor (including how the cars were strapped, weather, correction factors, etc...)

All I can say is your mate did well if he was running a manual.

Was wheelspin a factor? The VF’s get power down better.

Stock torque converter?
I think you would struggle to beat a manual with an auto that has a stock converter when power levels are kinda close... especially on a roll if he knows how to drive the thing. And even on launch from a standing start, he can launch it with high RPM and get ahead. |

Update. Went out again last night. It was clear the GT had more power, I got him quite convincingly over several runs. I have no idea what happened the first night out he done me so easy over 7 runs, when I asked the mechanic that tuned both our cars how he beat me and so easy the first time out he wouldnt believe it. I can only think it must have been the humidity that night effecting my supercharger and not effecting his n/a the same way. But any how I have gone from having angry frustration and complete disappointment feeling like selling up, to being the proudest fpv owner on the planet. I am happy to report the GT ate that 2017 ls3 ssv...whooped its asss wahoooo lol.

Probably wasn’t hitting the right heat parameters to get max power the first time. They will only allow the full wack under certain conditions. Thats why they were factory rated at 335 kw, even though at their best they were pushing towards 400. They will make 335 all the time as a minimum, but only over that when conditions are right.
Even tuned ones work the same way if the tuner has kept the factory protection strategies in place. Which they should. Unless they are intercooled which keeps the heat down, and away from needing protection strategies. |

Also add in our poor quality high sulfur fuels and fetish for 91 and it's going to be 335KW more often than not. |

I hope you don't mind Nafe but sharing my own story....
You have reminded me about the “rivalry” I came across when I first took delivery of our FG G6ET. I picked it up in July 2008 after about 30 days wait for build so about 5 months after the first official press release and still early days for wide general public notice. It still wasn’t widely known yet about the performance jump the FG turbo gained over the BF XR6T. I think it was only just out in one of the popular car mags a story where they achieved a 5.2sec 0-100km/hr and the G6ET was very much a chromed wolf in sheep’s clothing on our public roads compared to the FG XR's. Anyway, a couple of young gents in a VE SS decided to have some fun and for the next few traffic lights we stayed fairly even…and then on the third light, where the left lane ended requiring a merge into my lane the SS driver launched hard…I didn’t initially give it absolute full throttle but decided I needed to very quickly as soon as the SS got it’s rear door up to my front door…the SS is quick but the turbo once on song in mid range was breathtaking…add in a Melbourne July winter night of about 6 deg C and it was a perfect combination. I could only imagine what it would be like in an F6 and the mighty FG-X XR6 Sprint. |

Your Holden mate is running one of these, stealth nitrous install.
I'd be very very careful if he wants to race again for $$$$ |

I agree with both having the best aussie cars ever built!
Thing is, yours is 100% stealth whilst his with a cam is a rolling defect all to be just a quick as a tuned Miami, with this in mind, id say you won the first time also hahaha! What tyres are you running?? They made a huge difference with mine.
