On Saturday the price was $1.26 on Sunday $145.9.... WTF!
This is ridiculous! Fat chance the ACCC will do anything, again the motorist has to have un-natural acts performed upon them and be content… |

about 3 months before i moved here it cost me $150 to fill up my xf ute with 91... current prices are really not that bad. i think its only the usa and some oil producing countries that have it cheaper. |

We have Gaddafi to thank for the current price hike - Libya oil production all shut down due to unrest, other Arab countries getting nervous, threaten supply, price goes up...joy!

I wasn't real pleased when i rocked up at the petrol station and saw 98 at 159.9 this morning.
I had forgotten it was Sunday not Saturday but still. Quote:
Also I think there was a thread on fuel prices 1 or 2 weeks ago too.

I missed my window of opportunity, I saw E10 for 142.9 and my head almost exploded. I think I might drive the Barina for the next couple of months. Arguably the lesser of two evils.

I bought a diesel car....
It was like $1.40/L when I saw the other day, but it still works out cheaper than 95, so I'm in front still NZ where paying $2/L when I was there in Jan, works out to be $1.70/L AUD for 91. |

the EF only likes to run the expensive ****, but now it runs the cheapest stuff possible even if the ECU/fuel system likes it or not
then again, i have gas so petrol is really only needed for starting and while the car warms up

And here i was thinking ill fill up full tank on the way home from work before the prices skyrocket....too late...1.47 woo.
If they dont settle back, it'll be time to ditch the car and use the pushie...or change engine to mech diesel and run on vege oil for free or ultra mega cheap... Really getting rediculous...everything goes up but our wages...

What everyone needs to remember is that the amount we are paying for fuel at the moment is when oil was closer to $170-180 US a barrel a few years ago. Also last time oil went up the Aussie dollar was approximately 0.65 US cents and we were paying these higher prices.
Current crude oil prices are about $95-100 US a barrel. Just imagine if our dollar was weaker! This is what happens when there is no competition in the fuel retail market. Fuel is one of the many many items that we get ripped off on in this country and we thought the ACCC looks out for consumers Can any one dig up past fuel prices with the equivalent crude oil prices and our dollar at that point in time. I'm sure that would make some interesting reading. |

and you believe that? petrol prices have nothing to do with market forces. they are set at a world level by OPEC. we pay the singapore price, even if it's drilled in australia.

I bought a tank of fuel at Woodburn(North coast, Pacific Highway) service station two weeks ago, there is only one outlet in town, can't remember which chain of stores.
Anyhow think it was about 50% water, Aviod at all costs |

Looks like these prices are here to stay for a while !
The large BP I usually fill up at said there may be worse to come and we'd be lucky to see the price of standard unleaded fall below 1.35. ( forgot to mention this is in Suburban Melbourne )

when they done an enquiry into petrol prices and dragged the big bosses into the chair to ask the what the go was they refused to answer in front of the camera said they would in a closed chambers so the questions where never answered but it was a $1.40 today monday 28/2/2011 in logan area but the reason ours is still dear in comparison is extra taxes we pay 4 taxes on top of the oil prices...

That was one of the thoughts I had too, gotta have fuel even if she is a little pricey. I was just stupid enough to put 50-something Litres in. mine was V-power.

No we dont, the oil that is here NOW, realistically should not be influenced by the price per barrel of the oil coming out of the ground NOW. The oil we have NOW came out of the ground MONTHS ago & should be based on the price MONTHS ago...... So the price that the oil is selling at NOW we shouldnt see for MONTHS. But when the price goes down per barrel, it takes quite long time for it to come down. Its called profiteering. P.S. I felt so bad when I had to change the price from 132.9 to 143.9 on sunday morning. Even though I dont make the decision.
