My high pressure power steering hose is leaking, so I went to repco to buy a replacement
However, I'm having a hard time figuring how to remove the old hose from this plastic holder... |

Unbolt it from the cross-member; I think they work like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/POWER-ST...EAAOSwoTVdTKbT and https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FAL...frcectupt=true

The factory line assemblies do come with the clamp pre-fitted. So if they cannot come apart your options are:
a) try and buy a whole new line assembly from a Ford dealer; b) buy a used line assembly from a wrecker etc; or c) Use generic line clamps or even the older model ones that I linked.

On another question, why repco would sell the hose alone, if the factory ones comes with a clamp pre-fitted? |

That clamp just clips together, if you saw it from underneath you would understand.
You basically have to crimp it closed real tight, and it will separate.

Do you mean I undo that bolt, squeeze the clamp very tight, and it will spit out the high pressure and return line?

Ford OE hose has a O-ring that fails and that is what causes the common leak. The O-ring is not replaceable. There's a USA made re-designed hose available where you can replace the O-ring if it starts to leak. Don't have to replace the entire hose assembly.

thanks, have you used it before? I'm just concerned about the two O rings that come with it, they look the same as the ones ENZED put in, but clearly they failed on me. I went to Bursons and they have one for $60 that looks the same as the repco one, but same deal with the O rings
I just dont feel great about spending the $$, putting it in just for it to leak again. is there anything else that could cause it to leak from that fitting? thanks |

The hose may be fractured at the seal flange. There might be damage to the seal seat in the housing. The clamping thread could be faulty; crossed or stripped. The pump body could even be cracked or slightly porous.
If in doubt, clean all bits meticulously and look for oil stains creeping. My AU ute has this hose fitted, probably ten years old now. |

The car has only done 110,000k's, i don't think the hose had been off ever before and the old O ring was visibly deteriorated, flat and cracked.brittle. the one that goes into the rack (which wasn't leaking) looked good, and as far as I can tell now, isnt leaking with the new O ring. I guess I don't have much choice but to do the process of elimination as you suggested thanks again |

Also, I was reading in another thread about there also being a “Teflon” O ring
What’s the go with that? The new hose only comes with the two O rings. Or is the Teflon O ring something people add for extra security? I wanna try and get this right! Thanks Nick |

Then the metal part of the clamp should be free to slide along the hoses, and if I remember right the rubber block then pulls off the hoses as it is a split design. Then reverse the procedure to get it back on, and before you tighten the clamp bolt ensure the rubber block is sitting inside the metal cage correctly. |
