Default Doom the movie

Check out the recently released trailer for Doom the movie. It actually looks good.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/doom/

It's just like the game, you walk into a room the lights go out and monsters jump you Hopefully they will have a bit of humour thrown in.

If it is anything like Doom 3, it will be dark, crap and a waste of money.

But thats just what I think.

I wish Half Life 2 had come out first.

They ruined the story completely in the movie. In the game you are a sole security guard fighting off demons who have transported in from hell. Looks like in the movie you are with a crack squad of soldiers fighting off mutated humans or some crap.

I was happy to see they made it a movie, I hoped you had to start and fight ya way to the end, picking up ammo on the way......

Not happening :(

i ain't gonna bother with this crap movie.

1) It has the rock
2) They changed the main characters name to sarge....HELLLLO IT IS DOOM NOT QUAKE (hmmm reminds me to check the release date of quake4)
3) There is an army yet the game specifically has only Master Sergeant Kelly
4) They are basing it on a stupid virus and not hell invading mars.

An insult to the game me thinks. A big thumbs down so far!!!

The original Doom was set on the moon actually, but the developers decided to shift it to Mars for Doom 3 because the gravity is more consistent with earths, along with a few other reasons. Spot the geek.

I'd much rather watch a movie based on Half-life/Half-life 2 - much better story and I would think much easier to make a movie out of.

Its rediculous they changed the story so much, if they didn't want to have demons and hell in their movie they shouldn't have picked doom to base their movie on. The only thing it has going for it is that it isn't a Uwe Boll movie.

Yeah, based on the Doom-3 story.... there was no-way the old style doom story could make it into a movie (especially when the only characters you interact with are the ones that you were shooting).

Interesting though if you look at the photos from the movie, at least in the MOVIE they have guns with flashlights!

I think HL2 has an amazing story, but I also think HL1 would make a better movie. Simply because the story to HL2 is only the very beggining of a huge saga. You could argue that the same is true for the first HL, but in my opinion it would make a far better stand-alone movie, and I would hate to see them make a saga of Half Life movies. I think a single HL movie would be awesome, as long as Gordon and Alyx don't end up shacking up (which they would, thank you Hollywood).

If they did a Half-Life movie, they would probably mate both games together that creates a story none of the fans of the game series understand.

If anyone has seen the trailer to Quake 4 - thats a game that would rock as a moive!

There's one problem with a Half-Life movie
How many movies have you seen where the hero doesn't speak a word?

Do you have to upgrade the video card in the TV every time a sequel is released ?

Actually the Game was based on the Moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos from memory. This is brushing off some cobwebs... let me do a google search...

Here we go!! WOOT!! I have a freakish Memory!! (Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom)

The player takes the role of a nameless space marine, "one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action," who has been deported to Mars for assaulting a senior officer when ordered to kill unarmed civilians. He is forced to work for the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), a military-industrial conglomerate that is performing secret experiments with teleportation between the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. Suddenly, something goes wrong and creatures from Hell start coming out of the teleportation gates. A defensive reponse from base security fails to halt the invasion, and the bases quickly get overrun by demons, all personnel getting killed or turned into zombies. At the same time, Deimos vanishes entirely. A UAC team from Mars is sent to Phobos to investigate the incident, but soon radio contact ceases and only one human is left alive — the player, whose task is to make it out alive.

In order to beat the game, the player must fight through three episodes containing nine levels each (see Episodes and levels of Doom). Knee-Deep in the Dead, the first episode and the only one in the shareware version, is set in the high-tech military bases on Phobos. It ends with the player fighting the Barons of Hell and afterwards entering the teleporter leading to Deimos, there getting overwhelmed by monsters and seemingly killed. In the second episode, Shores of Hell, the player journeys through the Deimos installation, whose areas are interwoven with beastly architecture. After encountering the Cyberdemon, the truth about the vanished moon is discovered: it is floating above Hell. The player climbs down to the surface, and the final episode, Inferno, begins. After destroying the final boss, the Spider Mastermind, a hidden doorway opens for the hero who has "proven too tough for Hell to contain", leading back home to Earth. The expansion pack Ultimate Doom adds a fourth episode, chronicling the marine's return to Earth.
