Firstly I have no involvement in this at all, just spotted it while surfing the net for cars.
This is a 1 of 2 supposedly and appears to be in very good condition, so if anyone is in the market... https://www.graysonline.com/lot/0001...c-4-door-sedan

Looks good. Air con must have come standard on the Fairmonts as I see it’s fitted but it isn’t listed on the verification letter as an option.

Sure do.
LTD, Fairmont Ghia, S Pac and ESP package had the full instrumentation as standard. Fairlane had full instrumentation minus tacho, Fairmont and GL had the instrumentation as on this car. You could option up the full instrumentation on the vehicles that didn't have it standard. This car is quite unusual in that regard. Being a V8 but no full instrumentation. Plus as said the vinyl trim in a Fairmont is also not usual. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

That was my first thought, especially with the vinyl trim, but being a Fairmont would dispel that, but who knows, could have been a special order for a Commissioner or something, but then why would he want vinyl?
Cant' see any screw holes under bonnet or in the centre console, but again, could have been fixed up.

I was thinking more like a detective's car or for surveillance. Discreet but could go like a rocket if needed.
For originality I'd personally hanker more after the JG23 XD Shannons sold last year for $44K. |

Was that hammer fall, or including all surcharges?
Subject to the real cost of dry storing it, someone may have purchased a fairly dependable long term investment. |

So, two weirdos ordered V8 Fairmonts, with poverty pack vinyl trim??
Be interesting to know how the other options went, on a GL. Maybe this was the best (cheapest) way to get the 4 wheel discs, LSD, etc. Or could have just been someone with an aversion to cloth-trim. It's actually "1 of 1". I wonder what the unique option(s) was? |

Funny. In the '70s and 80's cloth trim was an upgrade from vinyl. Now we pay extra for pleather which is for all intents and purposes vinyl.
