Default Calder Park Newsletter Friday 15th April

Calder Park Newsletter Friday 15th April 2005

To all legal off-street racers; competitors; fans and other interested parties.

DRAG READ-OUT NOW COMPLETE
Drag read-outs are almost completed and working very will with the last few adjustments being fixed toady for tonight’s event.

NEW START TIME FROM NEXT FRIDAY APRIL 22ND
Friday April 22nd 2005 the gates will open 1 hour earlier at 4pm with racing starting at 5pm. We are able to race if there is a need until 10.30pm pr 11pm. The finishing time will depend on the number of entries and will be a Calder park management decision on the night. The early start is part of our plan for a winter series to be announced soon.

SMALL PRICE INCREASE
We advise of a increase of $3- to the current spectator entry fee of $17- which has been unchanged for many years, the new spectator cost will be $20-.

PLANS FOR A BETTER RETURN ROAD
Calder park management is planning to improve the drag return road and the system and give you the opportunity to return to the start line via the race track. In the long run this will give you more runs per night.

We are planning to have a time shed on the back straight to get your time slip if you use this return. There will be more on this later, expect changes to start next Friday night.

WEBSITE UPDATE www.calderparkmotorsport.com.au
The Calder Park website has been substantially up-dated with amazing results growing to 336,045 hits in March from a very low base of 20,000 in the later months of last year.

We find the success of our website very interesting and exciting particularly as the most busy days for our site are Friday each week with as many as 29,000 hits on a Friday.

We propose some research to establish what role legal off-street drag racing has on our website and I hope you will all help us with this research.

For competitors with access to the internet, you can now print an entry form to complete and bring with you on Friday nights. This will make entry on the day simpler and hopefully faster.

For entry in the future you will be able to enter and pay on-line and save time on the night at the gate.

TEST OF SUPER VIDEO SCREEN
Next Friday you may see a temporary large video screen facing the grandstand.
This is part of our plan to buy a 40 square meter screen to cover our street racing from the start line to the finish line, we believe this will provide a great viewing experience of drag racing for spectators.

SECURITY CAR PARKING
With the theft of 7 cars from the car park at WSID, we are focusing on this area at Calder Park.

While our security parking is okay, we plan to make it more secure with more lighting, more dedicated security and a card system where you must have your part of the ticket to get your car out of the car park.

Your’s faithfully

Calder Park Management

Damn, Calder are doing the business now, this is all great news for what still remains the fastest track in Victoria. I think a visit real soon is on the cards now!
