I picked up my Camry on Wednesday. I got the 3 yr extended warranty thing. Now it has been back already to have a fog lamp globe replaced, it needs a recall dimmer switch done as it was never done, would have thought they knew that before I took the car, I have to have the centre vent assembly replaced because the vent clips just fall off. Now that they know about and are happy to fix.
I have just had the car on a 1000km drive (was a nice drive and great economy) and noticed the CV joints are noisy (they rattle over bumpy roads) and the handbrake has to be pulled up as far as it will go and still does nothing. The handbrake I expect to be fixed for nothing. What I am concerned about is whether or not they will do the CV joints. They come under wear and tear items, but as I only picked the car up 4 days ago, I would hope they would fix it. Also shouldn't all of this been done before I took possession of the car. So will I have dramas trying to get the CV joints done? On an unrelated note, after my supercheap thread, they gave me my money back with no box or mains charger etc. Very Happy with the service. |

They should fix the CV's for you, otherwise it's considered an unroadworthy vehicle isn't it? And they can't sell an unroadworthy vehicle legally. On another note, why are you buying a camry ;)

very good chance you will have to pay for the cv's. if you had noticed it on a test drive then you could dispute it, but if nothing was said until now, you might not have much hope. if you are lucky they may come to the party on either parts or labour, but i wouldn't count on it. the way they will look at it is you could have done anything in the 4 days you have had it to kill the cv joints.
good luck and i hope it all goes well for your sake. |

The warranty is through the toyota dealer itself. It is o.k. Thread can be closed. Read through my VPP again and CV joints come under Differential/Drive Axle Assembly and are covered if required. |

How do you know it is the CV joints ?
I have never heard of CV's rattling over rough roads. If they are stuffed, they click on full lock turns. I would expect the CV's to be covered if they are faulty, how many Km does the car have?

I discovered it not working 30mins after leaving and rang straight away, but yes they are pretty good. I also discovered the tabs you use to move the vents to be broken. They could just stick them on but are ordering a whole new assembly. |

Well today I have started wondering if Karma is punishing me for not getting a ford.
There is a rattle in the dash that is in time with the revs, then the passenger seatbelt magically unbolted from the floor WTF, and then to top it off my drivers door decided it liked it better having me in the car, it wouldn't let me out from the inside. |

Do CV joints rattle? Never heard of it before. They usually " clack " on tight turns.

well everything was checked and found to be okay. Apparantly the sportivos are notorius for having noisy front suspension. They will replace the inner door handle and fix the aircon vents on friday. They refuse to fix the tacho because in their words "we won't justify a $900 unit for a noisy tacho" that is fine if it fails at least I can say I brought it to their attention and they refused so it will be done free.

Just make sure anything they don't fix you have in writing that you brought to their attention. So the reciept for the work should have something written on it.

Yeah, the way things are going in 1 yr, I will probably refinance at lower rate and trade the car while it is still worth 8-9g and go back to falcons. |

So now it is going back due to transmission clunking when putting into gear and a loose engine mount.
WTF. Is there some sort of return policy I can take advantage of and I will go get a falcon lol. The loose engine mount has me stumped. I drive this car like an old biddy. |
