Thumbs up Remote SCT tuning for Zetec, Duratec, XR5, RS & SAVE $1000 on tuning

Well the title says it all really.

Tom at Focus Power in the U.S. can remote tune your Ford Focus and that incl 1.8L and 2.0L Zetec and Duratec and 2.5L XR5 and RS.

Tom sell the SCT XCAL3 in the U.S. for $379.00 with a custom NA tune and free updates as they add more mods , now selling to 14 countries with no issues.
Tom can get ALL the euro tune files for our N/A or FI Focus.

I was on the Ph to tom for the past hour setting up my livelink and my Xcal3 by Tom taking controll of my PC.
Tom only open and closed the SCT livelink program and didn't go anywhere else on my pc and was 101% Professional and I could see everything what Tom was doing.

So for people who are unsure of the whole remote datalog tuning setup thing, You got nothing to worry about in my view.

Let Tom take care of everything and stand back and have a few beers like I was....TeeHee!...hahaha!

Rob

Everyone who got an SCT xcal2,3, livewire or going to get tune by SCT tuner needs to understand this part.

All SCT hardwear and softwear are made in the U.S.
There is NO different verison
It doesn't cost $1000 AU just for the xcal3, it cost $399 U.S. and if you shop around I got my xcal 3 for $379.00 U.S.

The Pro racer package doesn't cost $2500-3000 AU it's only $728 U.S.

So SCT xcal3 $379 + $65 for shipping, $199 for the A/F gauge and a few 100 buck for the euro tune file so that $843 U.S. and how much does it cost for the same thing over here double that + dyno time.

I got told for years the U.S. xcal won't work on our cars over here, yeah you can buy it buy over there but, we need to tune it because we have the softwear... NO No no 1 big lie

People need to call C.A.P.A. and chip torque and all other SCT dealer on monday and ask why are you charging such high price to do the same thing????

I am personally recommending Tom from Focus Power from my own experience. Tom is such a great guy who only care about giving you the best tune there is and to know your happy.

Melbzetec: has been talking to Tom about getting hes tune fix as well. Tom was telling me little bit about your problem something about how the car drive or it was something along those line anyway.
Hey Steve, I don't know if you told anyone on here about Tom, so from your own experience talking and email Tom about getting your tune fix what do you think of Tom so far?

2 years ago I was talking to Tom about getting a tune from him and and Tom couldn't help me because dreamscience had all the EURO CODES and at 1st you had to buy there SCT xcal which was from SCT U.S. then they Tom got in touch with them and they wanted something like $3000UK for each single code and Tom was like I don't think so.
A year go I made a post on focusfanatics.com asking the SCT rep why is the xcal over here so dear, given Tom cods why can't I get a tune from him.
So Tom and myself have been asking questtion and pushing for answer until 6 months ago someone from here posted on Tom thread asking can he tune my Focu then I jump on and said you can buy the Xcal from over there but Tom can't help you because of the codes then the SCT rep jump in and tell us that SCT U.S. has the euro codes because dreamscience and SCT U.S. are no longer together so there for the codes are open to anyone

What I am doing is helping people on here save money and time and not be taken for a ride.

If you don't like the idea about remote tuning you can still buy the Xcal3 or livewire or the NEW touch sceen from Tom and get it tune over here and your still saving alot of money by buying the unit yourself.

The Xcal 3 has been out in the U.S. for 2 year now and we over here are only just getting them now????

If you don't drive a Focus and you drive a falcon etc you can still buy the unit yourself and get it tune over here
All the SCT dealer over here won't like what I am saying because I'm speaking the god honest truth and it's going to hurt them where it hurt the most the wallet

Rob

The xcal goes for $399 U.S. but if you but it from Tom it's $379 U.S. for some reason.

Tom and myself were unsure if it would work on my Oz Focus but, once I plug it into the OBD2 port it work without any problem.

The unit will work but, it's a matter of the xcal trying to read the ECU.
It's like LAN from pc to pc and 1 has xp and the other has vista.
If it can't read it for some unknowen reason your local SCT dealer can fix this.
It doesn't mean the unit doesn't work just means the xcal just trouble reading the ECU

All SCT hardwear and softwear are all made in the U.S. and there's no different xcal Version for different countries just 1 type was made

If someone on the southside of Brisbane can drive to my house I can plug my untune xcal3 into your OBD2 port and lets if it work.
The thing that we need to find out can the xcal get the Strategy code from the aussie falcon and other ford as well????

If you got a Holden or Dodge / Chrysler you can buy the SCT xcal3 Devices
The thing I want to know is since GM and holden are the same company and we use the same engine like the LS1/2
What would the chances of SCT U.S. to have all of our aussie tune file and ECU codes for that matter????

I know dreamscience left SCT flash tuning a while ago as they couldn't access as many tables as they wanted to be able to. They have gone with another software format 'Dashdaq' from memory as it opens up many many more tables of tuning information. This is pretty close to the price of a Dreamscience tune for the XR5, so personally I would be sticking to them, but for other cars, sure, this sounds like a great deal. Although I had my Falcon XR6 tuned with a haltech interceptor at Autotech for about $900 including the custom tune....

It is not true for falcons, development work for them is done here and the SCTs are different!

Try it, your tuner wont be able to load the tune onto it nor will it talk to your ECU

My SCT xcal3 I brought from the U.S. works fine with NO problems at all.

It reads and clears my trouble codes and it got my Strategy code
So therefore if my xcal3 couldn't read my ECU then how can it do the above with no problems????

DUDE: From 12-1am saturday morning I was on the ph to Tom in the U.S. and he was setting up my livelink program and loading that into into my xcal3 with NO problem.
Tom and I could see what was going on when my car wasn't running then he ask me to turn the car over and we both saw what my car ECU was doing.
So how the hell could he and myself what was going on if it doesn't work????

2 years ago I started getting into all of this and now it's aload of B.S.
I got told if I brought the SCT xcal from the U.S. it wouldn't work on my euro oz Focus.
I went to another SCT dealer and they told me yeah you can buy it but, we have to tune it for you.

So what story is it????
I wouldn't be posting in here if it didn't bloody work.

So Steve, Melbzetec: got hes engine work and tuning done by you guys?

So Tom can't help Steve tune hes Focus becuase Tom is using the SCT U.S. softwear????

It'll be interesting to see if Tom can but, from what I have seen so far from Tom I'll getting my tune and steve will get hes tune fix without any problem.

i've ask Tom heaps of question about this and Tom wants to know as much as I do whats going on becuase it doesn't add up?

got off the ph to Chris at herrod ok so heres the story.

To all the falcon people, this won't work due to if you buy the SCT xcal from the U.S. it won't work because it's not a australian SCT xcal.
Yes herrod motorsport does buy the xcal from the U.S. but, it is setup for our car so to speak.
You can't call up SCT U.S. and buy itself, you have to deal with herrod motor sport.
The way its been setup so people like myself can't get throught the back door.

Ford Focus:
Zetec and duratec 1.8 and 2.0L.
if you buy a tune from Tom you are lock into hes tune and you can't go to any other SCT dealer in Australia.

2.5 XR5 and RS
Chris at herrod motor sport has told me tom can't tune these becuase the ECU and other thing are different.
Thats a question ill be asking Tom about and Chris or Rob want to call or email Tom and ask Tom the same same you guys are welcome too

So for me I will be lock into Tom tune and its all good
As for Steve melbzetec: chris told me Tom can't help you but, it will be interesting to see if Tom can
If anyone can do this it's Tom.

I have had no desire to enter into this thread.

But Rob (FRA), I don't appreciate you dragging my name into this without asking.

Let's get some facts straight.

I have a legitimate Australian XCAL3 purchased from Rob Herrod.

I have a custom tune from Rob that I am very happy with.

Just as I have been very happy with all the work Herrod's have done on my car over a number of years, and the support and encouragement they have given me.

Yes I have been speaking with Tom in the US.

Rob (Herrod) is aware of this because he and I have discussed it on a number of occasions. That's what gentlemen do.

I am not speaking to Tom to "fix" my tune.

I am speaking to Tom because he has enormous experience tuning LR Focus and for a small outlay I'm interested to see what he does with my setup.

However, what I do with my car is nobody's business but my own, and I don't appreciate my name being dragged into this rude aggressive arrogant thread.

FRA, I don't care what you do with your car, but don't you dare start professing to know what I am doing with mine. Or speaking on my behalf.

This thread continues your poor form of self important, aggressive, ego driven threads, dating way back to when you put yourself out as some sort of Australian agent for Ford Racing!

Tone it down, have some manners, and people may listen to you.

But leave me out of it

Anywho

How is the tune? Have any figures and such?

Would it improve horsepower and fuel economy? or does fuel economy suffer?

cheers

its all good
Rob Herrod should of told you Tom can't help you because Tom is using U.S. softwear and your using A.U. softwear so when you get the email to upload to xcal it won't work.
If your tune is great then theres no need to call Tom
We will see if Tom can but he should do.

You use bad mouth me back in the day making out I was riping people off, as a business you gotta pay import tax.
Thanks for sending it as a gift and low balling the price on the cumtom form
You use to bush me for selling the long tube header to people and looks who got 1. those parts won't work on our Focus, there no problems.

I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone deal, good

The main reason I am doing this???? Tom has ask me too
I have save alot of money by doing this way and Tom has been there from the word go.
Remoting tuning isn't for everyone, its food for thought.
It's not easying doing this way, it does take abit longer.

I don't have my tune as yet, I have to put back my A/F gauge and send Tom another datalog.

On a stock Focus Zetec 2.0L N/A you should get 5/8whp and thats by SCT U.S.

Once I get my tune I will find out and I use 98 octane

WTF...... Spell check much?

Dude your talking like a 12 year old....

Ive been talking with tom for 3-4 months regarding my tune on my Jackson Racing Supercharged focus. Not once he has asked me to come on here and advocate how awesum he is or find out what the score is. He KNOWS what the situation is down under and he doesnt need people to be "SELLING" his product for him.

I applaud your enthusiasm but ask that next time you come up with some "GREAT" idea or get money quick scheme that you dont steal the "but wait theres more" attitude. I highly doubt your danoz direct or you are the Sunrise TV show.

The facts are:

- No matter where you buy the SCT device it will work with your focus,
- Depending on where you buy it from will determine where the tune is done,
- IE: if you buy the unit from US direct only US tuners can tune it (ATM)
- IE: If you buy the unit form Australia then tuning companies like Herrod
can only Tune it.

The Fact that you had to call Chris at Herrod to Clarify the "SITUATION" obviously indicates that you dont know what you are talking about and havent gotten the full picture.

I would personally recomend anyone with a focus to get a tune from tom as i have been dealing with him as well. PROVIDED you do your research and make a decision that is based on what you want and need. As i supercharged my focus there where no real tuning companies in NSW that personally trusted to get the tune right (Not saying Herrod isnt good, in fact i didnt call them because they wherent in nsw and transit fees from syd down to melb are too expensive for my liking). I know other people (already mentioned in this thread) have dealt with herrod and they have been A grade - which from any story i have heard from herrod to be true. Tom suited my needs as he was able to do a tune and send it to me in email and i could upload it.

If anyone has any questions on my personal experience with tom i would urge you to PM me or email me @ photn@hotmail.com.

Hopefully what i have said makes sense. Any issues or Q's just pm me or email me.

- Sean

This whole thread is a bit suspect and i feel that all you are trying to do is make a big man out of yourself.Your opening comments that all software is the same is so wrong including the X3 i have spoken directly with SCT and Tom has no european tuning software only software to tune USA model focus.
Everything you have written in your opening post as so far from the truth i dont know how you could have even come up with it.
i would advise you to get your facts right before you post things like this again as i am not impressed .

Any australian SCT/Herrod Motorsport tuner that tunes a focus can also send tunes via email to the X3 for remote tuning

Everything you have written in your opening post as so far from the truth i dont know how you could have even come up with it.
i would advise you to get your facts right before you post things like this again as i am not impressed .

Rob Herrod
Your not impressed at all because people like Tom and myself have found a way to get this.
I want the choose of who tunes my car.
I don't like your SCT dealer up here in Brisbane, chip torque and BPS, so who can I go too???? are you going to fly Tom over here to do my tune????
I want Tom tune and NO body else tune
All you SCT dealer should be working in with each other and incl oversea and your not for some reason.

I was talking to Chris and he told me it cost little over $700 for the tune file.
The problem I have is this, it takes 45minutes to hours to write and setup a tune file?
It doesn't cost that much to do a tune.

Tom is selling to 14 countries with no issues looks like Tom should look into the AU market further , why are your prices so high to do the same thing????

Maybe I should call SCT U.S. and ask WHY???? The SCT rep in http://www.focusfanatics.com told me that theres no set price for SCT dealer over here and you can charge what you like.

I kinda don't think so and I am now speaking out about it.
I brought the SCT xcal3 with dash scan with tune and A/F gauge with shipping for less then what you sell your xcal3 for????
