Default Mustang on sale in UK

http://www.carscoops.com/2015/01/new...n-sale-in.html

Well the poms now have it, why are we still waiting?
32,995GBP on road for the V8 which at todays rates converts to roughly over $61,000.
I have a feeling that we wont see much change from 70K here once it lands.

I think driveaway price here for the base V8 will be mid $70K.

I'm going to be really ****ed if the V8 is more the 65k.... becasue that's the cut off for my budget, I'd prefer it quite a bit cheaper then that obviously.

The AUD isn't helping though, might be time to look elsewhere :(

Yep Im in a similar position, Not really willing to go higher than mid 60k. If it goes much higher I think they will price themselves out of quite a few sales.

I can't imagine the V8 being any cheaper than $65,000.

What is their car import structure like in terms of taxes and levies?

Have they got anything like our LCT for imports over £X?

V8 will do well if priced at NZ$64k thats what the XR8 was and the FGX XR8 is $69k here from memory. Otherwise they are idiots.

Why would a V8 GT Mustang with double the technology be the same price as an outgoing 4 door family car? I'd budget 75k worst case scenario imo.. Well that's what i've been telling people. Better to overquote than under..

The xr8 does have a supercharged engine, the V8 mustang does not.
if these mustangs are near the 75-80K mark i dont see many getting sold.

Because it costs less to produce than that outgoing 4 door car you speak of.
and I bet including the shipping of it here.

Trouble is in Australia People seem to accept prices,

99AUXR points out that wont happen in NZ

Chrysler have shown it can be done

The biggest killer over here is the mandatory insurance which is based on a number of factors. Emmissions, Engine Size, Driver Age, Post Code etc, etc.

I dont see 70k as a bargain at all for the Mustang. At the end of the day it only has 2 doors and is very small inside. It will be a very niche market, i don't think many will sell. I love the falcon and i wouldnt buy a Mustang due to space

The price's you are all talking here seem ridiculous. The mustang GT (V8) sell for $33,000 in the USA, which converts to $41,000 on the current exchange rate. Add in shipping cost, say $10,000 each (it wouldn't be that high) see's it landed for $51,000. So even at a australian sale price of $65,000, theres still an extra $14,000 profit for Ford.

Any thought on prices of the Shelby variants if released here (in Australia)? My current thinking is you wouldn't get much change from $120K depending on which option boxes you tick...

Edit: This is based on my view of the base V8 Mustang price being in the order of $75K, and driveaway prices

We're are only getting the premium fully loaded versions. The GT in that spec retails for USD$43k.

My point more exactly is they will sell huge numbers here if they price them there. There will still be a few that buy them if they are a little higher of course but what this will do IMO is have an initial rush of people who have the money will dive in and buy them because 'they have always wanted a mustang'.

However personally because we dont have to convert to RHD would rather own a GT350/GT350R which depending on what they sell a premium spec GT wouldnt be much difference in price could even be cheaper.

NZ pricing will be interesting given that the Hamilton crowd are trying to flog the lefties for 80k

If Ford NZ come in under that price (which they should) it will make them look a bit silly.

People that say you are getting less because it only has 2 doors amaze me!!

It's a sports car!!! The less doors, the better!!! Having 2 less doors makes it MORE attractive.

Sometimes people leave me speechless.

Having said that, the 4Cyl SHOULD be priced at $39990 (which it won't) and the V8 SHOULD be priced at $55000 - $60000 (which it won't).

Ford have a history of overpricing their imports. Now that they will be import only, hopefully this line of thinking will change.

Remember, there are no additional costs to make it right hand drive this time.

Not to mention the volume vs the falcon. It's not comparable.

The issue is that the GT existed for us, what did any other country have as far as V8s go? Nada I reckon. So they know we cough up $65k+ for a V8.

I was hoping they would be chasing profit via volume not fat.....Ford will need all the help they can get here.

Honestly, IMO the smarter money is on waiting 12 months...see what the sales do and go from there. There's always a honeymoon period for the sales fellas....but usually always people who want to be the first.

Hold ya horses gents

Base price with no options may be $33K here, but you won't find many or any on dealer lots for that price.

GT "Premium" trim adds quite the ... premium. (Note that base price for the Premium is $36,100.)

You guys are thinking of it all wrong. As has been said, it's a premium product and it will sell as one. You aren't buying a 2 door Falcon....
Show me a C63 or an M3 for under 75k with the same features/tech/power as the new Mustang.

Maybe the XR8 should have been 10k more expensive on the RRP to soften the blow.

C63 is north of US$55k. That's a bit more than US$36k.

Given the way most manufacturers add the Aussie tax, if the V8 Mustang is less than AU$75k drive away, I'd be completely amazed.

But Ford price and AFF expectations on pricing (including me), have never, and shall never meet.
