G'Day guys just curious as to why at time i get a " timed out?" only on this site. Does it slow down during heavy traffic?

I am getting it really bad tonight - have had a timeout error 3 times

We are aware that one of the hourly cron jobs is placing excessive load on the server and are looking at ways of stopping it during high load periods (basically between 1800-2200).
