Default Willowbank Test n Tune 31st MAY

On the 31st May I am organising a cruise to Willowbank for all b-series owners. It should be a good day and such as the previous meets have been successful and I know there is quite a few people wanting to give there cars a good thrashing to improve there times or running there car for there first time.

Anyway details will be as follow:

Meetup: Willowbank Raceway - Will park up near the toilets to the right side as you enter the grounds
Time: 4:30pm
Costs: $18 Spectators or $36 to run your car, your allowed another passenger if your running your car for that $36.
Essentials if racing: Helmet with safety sticker still on it, Long sleeve shirt, Fully covered leggings/Jeans

There is food you can buy at the raceway and drinks otherwhise you can bring your own. Should be a good day to run as it will be hopefully dam freezing for our cars. Post back if you can make this or if you can maybe make it and I will create a list.

Make sure you run the XR6! We'd all be very interested in what it can do since, afaik, you car would be the first of it's kind down the quarter... from AFF anyway. That is, an NA6 with ZF... plus mods. I think you'll get into the top ten with your first visit to the track. Don't be afraid, it's awesome fun but very safe. We're all amateurs to some degree so don't feel nervous either.

Tip 3: The track surface is totally different to the street. You can't exactly practice launch til you get there.

Tip 4: No massive skids (with road tyres), but spin the rears enough to dry the water off.

The cost of purchasing something with a ZF was a bit on the high side, and too many weren't willing to pay the extra dollars maybe? At the time it was a little over my budget as well, and the Futura was too cheap to let go.

Anyhow, to get the most of the Barra's power the ZF's ultra short 1st gear is what will show the most down the strip. The lowest ratio diff one can have in the rear is 4.1:1, but with ZF it's equivalent to having about 5.2:1 behind the 4sp!!! So that explains the potential you have.

For your info, a ZF equipped Falcon was tested by "Drive" at WSID a few months back and recorded 14.56 down the quarter.. thats completely stock. Heavily modded (all bolt on's) BA's couldn't beat that with their standard drivelines.

I got absolutely flogged by a BF XR6 with the ZF equipped and it was stock.

I had him to half track then he walked from me.

15.3 he managed at the end of it.
