Have jsut read another section.
FG XR6T v 290 FG XR8 v VE SSV And I quote "Packing a sizable 270kw and 533nm from 2000-4750 etc...at 80kmmm/h in 3rd, shimmering 3250rpm 3 seconds later 120km/h flashes past. Thats marginally slower than an auto C63AMG in kickdown, but .2 faster than a BMW V10 M5, not to mention 0.7 ahead of the SSV and a whole second faster than the XR8. What the XR6T foes in 4th from 80-120, the XR8 does in third." XR6T 0-100 in 5.3 seconds (6 spd manual with launch control) and the quarter in 13.5.

in that same mag, it has a comparo between a c63 amg black and a porsche gt2.
the gt2 does 80 - 120 in 1.8seconds. that is seriously quick. mind you its a serious car. |

Are XR8's and GT's that bad? I am sure they are still good cars that just don't stack up against the opposition. They seem to cop bit of a hiding but really, isnt it all about brgging rights over 0-100 times etc. As an everyday driver, not on the limits as tested, the XR8s and GTs seem to get god reviews as far as their drivability.

It's still a shame that the GT still isn't quicker than a mere XR6T.

also given the nature of winton, there is a lot of room there for variation in lap times from the same car. push a bit hard in one corner, lose a bit of exit speed, speed is then down on the straight and entry and mid corner speed may also be compromised on the next corner. |

It would be a hard choice between the XR6T and SS for me. I love turbos but I love V8s aswell. Glad I can't afford neither as I'm saving for a house anyway! :

The base XR6 got a good wrap too. Can't remember the exact quote but something along the lines of anyone who buys an SV6 or Aurion is doing so purely for brand loyalty reasons - the XR6 does it all so well etc.
The G6E Turbo got the same wrap about being a Euro killer etc for base 3 series $$.
