Default key fob unlocking other vehicles?

this sounds sus but dead true.
Visiting Adelaide and yesterday in a mega shopping centre car park, I return to my FG ute press the unlock on the fob and both cars either side flashed their parkers and interior lights came on. Was not game to try their doors.
One was a Toyota ?? and the other a new Opal/commedore

is this possible or just a fluke or something else going on.

Tech Writer: Recognition for the technical writers of AFF - Issue reason: Outstanding work on the FG ICC issues. Technical Contributor: For members who share their technical expertise. - Issue reason: The insane amount of work he has put into the Falcon FG ICC is unbelievable. He has shared everything he has done and made a great deal of it available to us all. He has definitely helped a great deal of us with no personal gains to himself.

Default Re: key fob unlocking other vehicles?

Yep, entirely possible. Back in 2004 I returned to my nice new BA XR6 from shopping upstairs in the shopping centre. Pressed the key fob, doors and boot clicked. Went back of car, "A little dusty, where did I pick that up?", I thought as I lifter the boot lid. "WTF, this boot is filthy..dirt, papers....this ain't mine". Closed the boot. Pressed the fob to lock it....click, locked. Two rows over, there is an identical BA, responding, with my number plates on it! Quick look around, I'm the only one about..."I'll take that clean one I think"
