It is illegal to drive without a bonnet so it would be a bad idea.

Hire a trailer (if you've got a towbar) or maybe even throw a couple of blankets on your roof, pop the bonnet on top, another blanket on top of the bonnet, then tie the whole lot down by running the rope either through your open windows, or over the door frame (if the door will close). Sounds dodgy, and is, but it is amusing.

Pretty sure you can drive without bonnet as long as fans are covered and the bonnet brackets and springs are removed or tied down. Look at all the hot rods that get around without bonnets!

In the old days you could pay your money and get a permit from the police to do such things (at least in WA). But these days I suspect they would be too understaffed and too busy to deal with the paperwork and less than sympathetic to the idea. but you always sound them out with a phone call.

Wear one of these so you can say: "But officer I do have a bonnet."

I drove my car around without a bonnet after putting in the ef bottom end in, didnt have any problems, country roads... As for the cops, the mechanic that put my motor in told me the cops let them drive without a bonnet to test new motors, it may be had to convince the boys in blue thats what your doing if you are towing a trailer

Hire a trailer and dont drive without a bonnet as it is illegal. Cops pick on you for having no front bar or even a missing number plate so imagine no bonnet. Take take the risk its not worth it mate

You are in a delema here, I have seen cars on the road without bonnets before and its a good idea to take yours off, go pick the new one up, fit it and drive home with your new bonnet on.
Can not see any harm in doing it just if you get pulled over you will have to do some sweet talking............
