I hear you guys mention quite a bit that this a good thing to have. Once someone buys this piece of plastic from Ford how does one go about installing it? I have an EBII 4.0..

Thanks guys. So Polyal you recon it doesnt make a noticeable difference? The look of the standard snorkel doesnt bother me but I can see the XH snorkle is a lot bigger..

I did what neb did, just screwed it onto the air box and left it.
I seriously doubt its made any difference, but I still have a stock airbox and shitty panel filter.

Speaking of the shitty panel filter does anyone have the part number for the K&N filter?

InitialD Can you tell me what is custom about your grille? I was wondering what a Falcon would look like (EB-ED) with a grille that was a different colour to rest of the car? Cool or gay?

I didnt have a std XH snorkel, I modified it by cutting the "middle" section out and making it one large inside, instead of two small pipe things. I wrapped it back up with insulating material as this was the easiest way for me to seal it back up and also free from old workplace.
without a doubt, this type of snorkel made a difference to my car (std recon 4L) throttle response was heaps better , and there were good gains in power but more so with torque. havent tried a std xh snorkel, but if ur gonna get one take the time in modifing and you will get a much better result. i also had to cut a bit of the bonnet seal rubber so the bonnet would shut properly (eb2 fairmont) |

I just went into ford spare parts and asked for an XH snorkle. he came out with an EF/EL one, i told his that wasnt want i was after, i said it was the one that fitted onto the lid of the box, he then preceeded to tell me that sort cost about 120$ and he would have to order it in...WTF?? :
is he just full of crap or did i ask for the wrong thing?? could someone please get a part number off it for me? bender

The cost was $36 when I bought mine, but I don't have the part number.
The lack of the weird sound-deadening bit is the main advantage the snorkel has. It's a very strange shape. On a stock engine it would probably yield an extra 1 kW but the intake isn't necessarily the biggest restriction on a stock E series. |

My personal opinion is that for auto E series sixes, the diff is the biggest restriction. I think 3.45 or 3.7 is generally best depending on the application. The stock exhaust system isn't ideal either. Manuals are pretty well set up from the factory.

if it's either or both,
CFI AUTO otherwise, as said, probably the diff, then airflow in/out then taxi grind bump stick
