Default Au2 300+

I was checking out the Au2 300+ coupe on the net

http://www.trueblueford.com/AU2_300plus_Coupe.html

I was wondering does anyone know what happened to this vehicle, does it still exist?

Ended up in Perth, IIRC. Probably in a museum somewhere. I saw it at the Melbourne Motor show in 2000 or 2001 - great looking car back then and would hold it's own even now.

Do you have any idea how many AU coupes were done?
From what I can see, some crowd called the Hillier Brothers did one or two.
What other info do you have?

This is a project I would seriously consider for myself.
Grab an AU2/3 XR8 and a gas axe!

There were only 2 I heard of. The arrow coupe (2 door AU, painted Acid rush or citric acid - the baby poo browny yellowy colour from a BA), and the other was the red 300+. Hilliers did the body, and Autotek (IIRC) did the interior etc. The 300+ was powered by (again, IIRC) a 4.6 sprintex supercharged engine. Not sure what powered the Arrow coupe.

From memory (all this recall work is hurting!), the Hilliers would build you a coupe for around $20k on top of whatever falcon you chose to do it to (depending on options, this could go up to $40k; pretty sure the arrow was valued it around $100k).

Here's an old thread on the AU Coupe:

Also, their workshop was destroyed by fire in 2006, not sure if their records went up with it:

The front of the babyshit yellow thing is hideous eh.... Geez, what some people do to an already good looking front end.

Anyway, thanks for the info guys, this really appeals to me as I really like coupes, hence the ute and the little Beemer.

All I need to do now is search for an imaculate low mileage XR8 and we're set.
Watch this space.

No not me. I was never big on doing my own mods. JC did them for me. Not sure he would have been all that keen if I asked him to mod a whole car. From scratch. :hihi:

I think it's public knowledge who bought the shell. But I won't say in case it's not. But he's a Sydney member and he currently owns an AU. He's owned it for many years.

@HLC those headlights are from a Mercedes Benz coupe of some variety.

I remember them cars looking prettier back when they were new! I think the side windows are what lets them both down, they just don't look 100% right. but the roof line and the rear windows look just right!

The headlights from the arrow coupe are from a CLK Benz.

I do own a coupe shell. It is currently sitting in the middle of the NSW desert until I have the time and money to work on it. At least there it is safe and will not rust as compared to being on the beaches of Sydney.

Think how long it took to get my stroker motor in... So do not expect anything soon. The car is in the background and there are plenty of other things I would like to put my money into. That being said I want to go all out with this coupe and do some thing wild with it. Why not a V12 from an Aston Martin ????

Whoever did that needs to be taken out the back of the tool shed and bashed.

Or forced to defect to Holden.

From the car's perspective, it would be kind of like being raped. You know what's going on, and it's horrifying but there isn't a lot you can do about it.

I'm certain the Arrow coupe was powered by a 351 windsor making 300-350kW at the flywheel.

An old motor mag (june 02) had an article on it. Says it's a 6.4L.

That blue AU looks terrible. With the 300+ does anyone have any actual high res pics. I am assuming from what MGGT RAA said its still getting around on the streets
