Default telstar ghia rim size

Would someone tell me the standard wheel and tyre size for a 1992 AX Ford Telstar Ghia? I'm guessing 14 or 15 x 5.5 or 6jj with 185 or 195 tyres but I don't know and I'm getting the car soon. Want to begin looking for good wheels before I get the car

ragtop, thanks for that info. Very helpfull. Leads me to wonder tho. Why does the 4 cylinder 2 liter Telstar Ghia get 14 x 5.5 steel wheels while the 2.4 liter Ghia (same year) gets 15 x 6 alloys? I will now have to find a set of Telstar mags with decent tyres. Ah well, "such is life", as Ned said.

Should be pretty easy to get a set of mags.
I bought some that came off a telstar and went straight on a mazda3.

Had the right offset, stud pattern and tyre size.

The 2.5L V6 TX5 GHIA had the 16" alloys ... the lower spec 2L had the steel rims. I think it was a same for the sedan (GHIA had the V6) ... and the GLX (I think it was) was a 2L.

There were 3 different model designations in that range.

2L TX5 GHIA - 4cyl
2.5L TX5 GHIA - V6
2.5L TX5 GHIA - V6 4WS (had different side skirting on this model)

at least you have the 4cyl model ... the V6s were a pain to work on ... especially if you had a headgasket or 2 go on it.

Mechanic1k, you just explained why I did not get the V6. Not just because of the V6 config but I did not like losing yards of skin changing the rear spark plugs etc

I had the unfortunate experience of swapping an engine out ... and finding out that Ford decided to change looms/sensors part way through that model ... boy that was fun.

Now I'm even happier that I chose the 2l 4 banger. Japanese derived cars have a nasty habit of doing that ie changing things mid-model. every time I buy spare parts, the sale-person asks for the vin/chassis number to identify the correct part. Model id is useless these days.

The V6 is a sweet engine though, sounds great with an exhaust on it - something the 4cyl can never achieve.

True .. it is a nice sounding engine.
Actually saw a Ford Probe the other day with a nice sounding exhaust ... numberplates GRAN 1 ... the old bird wasn't driving it gently either.
