Default AU steering rack

Hi guys just joined your forum a couple of days ago and was reading through bits and pieces. found some info on recall for steering racks. I got 3 AU's 2 LTD's and 1 Fairlane but never got anything about recalls had them all from new so not as if ford don't no i got em. maybe ford nz are a bit slack.
Whats a spindle valve?
The rack in the 2000 ltd v8 packed up a couple of weeks ago was heavy turning to the right at low speeds so I took it in had a slight weep on the right end boot..They removed the rack assembly and replaced the spindle valve.
didn't fix it. It was in the shop for a week while they searched for a new or second hand rack. they couldn't find one in nz so i told them to get one from Oz. they said that'll take a week. so I visited the boss's office and let him no i was a wee bit ****ed. He went out in the car sale yard and told the mec's to yank one out of a v8 on the lot. I got the car back the next day along with the 1008.90 labour charge that will cause another visit to the boss's office with a similar attitude as I had the first time.
they stripped mine which they should have done in the first place to find it had a blown rack piston seal which I suspected when I took it.
pretty slack eh. It seems like they dont know how to fix things just know how to replace them.

that blows big time...

there are several threads about the steering rack and other recalls. just do a quick search and that should bring them up with all the details.
