Talking New Cam for RS

Hi,
Just purchased my first 1980 4 door RS and wish to make some minor mods. Probably start with mild cam. Do I have to do the valves at the same time? What are my options and about how much am I up for??

Thanks,

Doesn't look too difficult if I only go for a mild one...

Does anyone know where I might be able to find the little control that attachs to the door trim to adjust the side mirror?? Where will I find a good supply of parts?

I have seen a few complete mirror kits with the lever bit attached on ebay, most escorts I have seen have this bit missing (including mine). I'm planing on using a screw to replace it when I figure out the best way to keep it solid.

the remote mirror control is the same type used on all fords at the time.
you will find this most commonly on xa/xb/xc falcons with the remote driver's mirror option.

i see a bloke on ebay selling what looks to be, repro ones from time to time--complete with surround, pin and backing bracket.

i just did a search and unfortunately he's not selling any at the moment. but i see them usually go for no more than $20-$30.

the search i use on ebay is 'xb falcon'

hope this helps.

Thanks. That all sounds great. I know it is really just a cosmetic thing, but I don't like the hole in the trim.....

Thanks for your help.

One more thing. The car has a couple of little spots of rust around the rubber in both the front doors. I didn't have this problem in my previous escort. Is this common and how hard is it to fix in this area?? I don't want to leave it too long in case it gets any worse....

Thanks

i have heard of people getting rust spots under escort rubbers. i'm fairly sure i have none under mine. i don't know much about rust repair so can't help you in that regard.

by the way...the bloke i was refering to who sells the remote mirrors is back:

Thanks groulder. May have to wait a few weeks to let the dust settle after buying the car to start with......
At least I know they do exist!! Should probably start with the rust first, then make it go faster, then cosmetics!!!
I also found out today that I have an a/c unit for the car.....
How difficult is this to install. The controls are already in there, but the part that replaces the glove box is not hooked up. apart from the pipes, what else do I need to complete the job??
