Default what's a good octane booster ?

my car has a slight ping, and I want to drag it on saturday.
I may not have time to get it on the dyno to retune it before then.
I run mobil synergy 8000, so is a good fuel.
even on BP Ultimate is does as well.
won't try any other fuels, as I don't think they are as good.
but just some octane boost for sat and I can fix it next week.

So .. what works well for you ??

The Nulon Octane booster seems to work fine.

Naptholene otherwise commonly known as Moth Balls. It's not an old wives tail, I saw it done on Mythbusters

nulon pro strength...increases RON by 7 points...so ultimate/synergy being 98 octane it will make 105 RON....well, so they claim anyway, but i have used it before its not too bad...be warned though, dont get it on your paint - it strips it quicker than you can say 'crikey what was that'

Aviation Fuel.

Cheaper than nulon and 130 octane.

PS, don't get Jet A1 as this is just Kerosene with a couple of additives.

Man, the stuff we get in sydney is rated at anywhere between 115/130 octane. Avco Lycoming and Continental Engines insist on a minimum octane rating of 120. Mobil have the highest rating as well. Also, I wasn't aware you had cats, I though your V8 capri might have been an old worked cleveland without cats or something. Actually, my mate had an old XE 4.1 that was missing on two cylinders, and we ran a 50/50 mix of avgas and leaded in it, absolutley screamed.

Which car are you running the BA Ghia as I don't think our Capri would run a cat. Has anyone used the Shell ultimate with 100 octane rating?

Nulon Pro Strength.Works great in the clevo with no pinging issues.I have also been mucking around with Shell Extreme without octane booster, works quite well too.

octane boosters in a bottle dont work.

However, hehehe, the company i work for uses alot to toluene! 114 octane......

Mix it 30/70 tol/premium and youve got about 103 octane average....... this ИИИИ works a treat!

but make sure you have hardened seates hehehe...........

i can get this for people if they live in the brisbane area. Email me for a price.....

nitro actually lowers the octane rating, that is why you mix it with alky.

Ive got a 4 litre bottle of stuff called Stealth if you want to give it a go. It is oxygenated so Im not sure if it would work well without a tune though. The guy that fitted my turbo gave it to me when I had the AU.

There is a website for it somewhere but i cant find it. Ill have to get the website for you when I get home.

The reason it's banned is because it's leaded!
