Default Am I guilty of rice-ing?

From this...

...a car that is a symbol of one Australia's greatest motor racing to this...

a Cabramatta special.

As you can see its a 5 minute jobbie and thanks to the more than genorous over hang of plastic over the tranny, there is space for two sticks of LEDs. Connected to the ciggie lighter via a four way spliter located infront of the centre console bin under that removable tray.

That third thing connected into the splitter is a black light, more novelty and for when I retire as a pimp I can check no ones giving my ho's forged notes.

The LED sticks are double sided taped in for that true ricer touch and are inivisible during the day and night when switched off.

All bits and bobs are from Supercheap Auto and didn't break the budget.

I dont mind the blue lights in the cabin, although that is a little bright and would probably pi$$ me off after about 2 minutes.
I just hope you dont have them on the outside of your car, if you do then yes, your giulty of ricing.

Looks alright, not rice in my book until you go putting neons outside the car.
Who cares if its rice or not any way, if you like it then enjoy it.

i've got red cold cathodes under my seats hooked up to the power aerial switch [mine's not power] and everyone likes them. i always turn them on at night and it's become such a habit i got pulled over and asked 'how long have you had the red lights?' and my reply was 'what red lights? oh yeh, a while sir'.

yeh im wanting to replace all the lights in the air/con and clock as well as the ceiling light and i'll install some courtesy lights under the dash and under the front seats to light up the rear foot well.

i'll hook the courtesy lights up to the ceiling light so they come on when the doors open or when u turn the interior light on. this would work fine wouldnt it??

Looks ok. Ive got cold cathodes under the glovebox and under the driver's side dash... only come on when the interior light is on, but i quite like the effect... esp when they fade out. Warm and fuzzies.

Hey.

Cold cathode is a broad description of lights which do not need to be deliberately heated in order to produce light (i.e. dont have a cathode heater). These neon lights are a type of cold cathode light.

Looks good mate. When did ya do it? As others have already said, as soon as neons are under the car, then yes, you are guilty of ricing. Neons inside are good , neons outside are bad :jab:

i install 2 green cold cathodes in the passenger footwells. looks pretty good but yeh you cant have them running all the time.

Hey Wade-man, I finally get it, neons inside okay, outside out of the question. Got it. I did'em last week after I finally bought some stuff form the Supercheap I worked at.

Plus they have switches to each light so I can switch them off and on whenever. Without a passenger in the front the glare on the door window is shocking.

Just wire a relay to the interior light circuit. The interior light circuit would probably support the low current draw of these lights itself... but better to be safe, do it properly and fit a relay.

Yeah they look pretty good, I used to have a blue one under the drivers side of the dash and drivers seat, and then a red one under the passenger side of the dash and passenger seat, wired up so they only came on when I opened the boot - the rest of the stereo was lit in matching red/blue neons as well.

The ones under the drivers and passengers seats kept getting broken though, weither it was from the seat deforming during use and flexing them till they snapped, or if the back seat passengers kicked them by accident.

I tend to believe it was the former, so make sure if you mount any under the seat they aren't solidly fixed, and also have enough lead to allow you to move the seat forewards and back.

It's also illegal in QLD to have them in your car when it is running, and most probably other states as well, so hooking them up to only come on when the door/boot is opened is a good idea.

I saw a blue print BA GT about nine monthes back in Melbourne that had the blue light stuck up under the bottom font grill. Was not too bright and I thought it looked good. out side not for me, though one or two lightly glowing in the right spot would look great inside. great around the engine bay if your showing your ride in side or at a night show.

dude next time u see a cop doing a "random" roadworthy on a p-plater down the lake c if u like red next to blue. i think it would look pretty good. blue would be better than green. red car + green lights = xmas tree! :hihi:
