you'd probably get a 15-20 kw gain, would cost a bit over $1k to be fitted.

extractors = $350-$450 + fitting ($100)
then the price of the cat itself, fitting of the cat may be included in the price of the extractor install since modding the cat is 3/4 of the work.

power gains depend on lots things :/

(stock 147KW) hoping for bout 155-160? i hope i see a difference with my extractors/cat mainaly as i couldnt see much on a CFI!!.!!!

you'll see a huge difference going from cfi to mpfi, even in stock form... cfi won't gain from extractors as they can't breath anyway its like strangling urself while u breathe in and then stopping to breathe out... doesn't make it easier to stay alive...

mpfi on the other hand will benefit a fair bit from extractors and exhaust... and sound awesome too... try running the mpfi setup without a lid on the airbox; just to see the sound lol

15-20kw sounds a little optimistic (for a stock/near stock motor). Then again, maybe a high-flow cat will add a few more kw (at a more undrivable rpm, taking a bite out of torque in the process)

Don't bother with a high-flow cat (or should I say "overly high flow" cat), only makes your peak dyno figure look a little better. By all means, replace your current cat though! I replaced my cats with regular ones

Hi Dave, how much did you pay for your PH4000s? I'm getting some for mine very soon.

Well for everyday driving, a normal cat would be just fine ;) (note, everyday driving is for <4000rpm use) <-- ballpark figure

Gudday Kenaz ;) My PH4000s cost $500 I think, however they may have been cheaper since I was quoted the following for my exhaust:

$500(?) for PH4000s
$250 for both cats (not high flow)
$300 for 2.5" into 3" piping (mandrel-bent, made at workshop)
$200(?) for muffler. It was a semi-expensive muffler too :P

Somehow this came to a total of $1150 fitted :

The mechanic had difficulty putting the extractors on (due to steering column) so it took almost half a day extra (the whole day, 8 to 6) but didn't charge any extra. Was a good thing, because I was silly and didn't get a WRITTEN quote lol! I got lucky (dumb luck?)

Generally they're around $600 I think. Fit 'em soon mate, they sound horny as!

Yeah, I've been itching to get them since I heard your car at the Bundoora "aftermeet" cruise ;) At the moment I've just got a cat-back.

Ahh yes, that was fun Shame I missed the rest of the cruise :(

Shop around for those extractors, because their prices vary quite a bit. For extractors alone, the place I went to didn't sell them at the cheapest price, there was some joint in southeast Melbourne I found on Ebay that sold the cheapest ones ($380 new I think! They were on special for 25% off or something like that). I went to the place I went to though because of the deal for the whole package, and the mechanic was a very genuine guy.

Wanna race at Heathcote? Check the grudge match thread ;)

MockGT, do whatever you want to do. Depends on what your driving style is I guess mate ;) Tell us how u go though & what u decide to do. Good luck!

Sorry, I paid $700. $480 for the extractors (inc installation) and $220 for the cat. I know it's not cheap, but I don't think I got ripped off, it's about the going rate I thought.

only thing you need to do to the cat is get the ends chopped off and 2.5" pipe welded on and its all you need. better than cheapo hi-flows and nearly as good as a quality hi-flows.

no you will not lose power(unless its a cheapo ebay hi-flow...). Just modify a good condition ford cat, to 2.5" inlet and outlets and youll be right.

yeah lol i never really felt/sore a power increase from extractors on my CFI but i sore a difference in top speed 140+ with exhaust....but i hope now with my full zorst system, and my K&N pod filter on the new 4.0LMPFI that it goes nice...i do on the other hand need a quciker diff. (currently ****y 2.77)

nah mate, in fact it you should notice more of an improvement

High-flow cats (depending on inner diameter) give better KW (but higher up in the rev range, due to their higher flow capacity), and take out a bit of low-end torque (due to lower velocity at low revs than normal cats). Hence why I'm recommending not going that route unless you plan to drive at WOT and >4000rpm most of the time.

this looks like a pretty interesting thread. sorry about cutting in on it, but it actually reminded me of a couple of questions. first off, i was also thinking of getting a 2 1/2 cat back. i currently have a set of "HiTech Headders" extractors on there at the moment. they look smaller than most others i have seen, so my guess is they are 2 1/4 to go with my 2 1/4 exhaust system. i have a standard cat on there, and from what i gather, all that needs to be done is put a 2 1/2 outlet on the end to put the cat back. do they do anything at all or just make noise? speaking of which, i have been told that cos i have a wagon, the pipes are longer and therefore i wil not suffer from as much drone. how true is this?

$450 sound reasonable. Do you know what they are doing, what springs etc. spring = approx 200-250 + 100-150 labour, and maybe a set of shocks.
