Where to stick my screen?

Im looking at very soon fitting a CarPC to my EA. Now ive got all the PC part sorted but im unsure where the heck to put the screen??!

:

Ive attached a pic of where i was thinking of fitting it. where the bin is at the front of the console diagonally into the small area under the stereo.

I dont wanna hack the woodgrain up and flush mount it into the radio surround. Any ideas? the only issue that Ive got is the front bin where i plan to fit it, is where my volt gauge is, and future A/F and oil pressure will be

what about the handbrake and your fist over the tbar when putting it in and taking it out of park

That Red square isnt the size of the screen mate ;) its to show the area im talking about. Basicly i want it to sit in that little cup and the front and diagonally sit into the area under the stereo if that makes sense?

Also is it possible to fit the volt gauge to where the door ajar screen is on the cluster? since i dont have that connected

I love the title of your post - Where to stick my screen? Can I be the first to offer suggestions? You just left yourself wide open (*ahem!) for comment!

Not very helpful of me though... It depends on the size of the screen, and will you really be able to see it?

And what is the point of having a pc in your car anyhow?

That is where most people seem to stick theirs, there isn't a great deal of space anywhere else!

Unless you like your digital dash the easiest way might be to put the screen where yo said and use the sports dash. instant oil and volt guage. Then put the af guage somewhere else.

Could you remove the woodgrain, replace it with plastic, and hack up the plastic to get it to fit in there? That way you wouldn't be hacking up the woodgrain.

Other then that, sorry, I've got no idea. As usual, haha!

It would be cool if you could remove the trip computer, somehow make it so the data that the trip computer tells you is told to you via the carputer (when you want it, like press a button to bring the data up) and move the air vents to below the head unit, and stick the screen there is a permanent mout like a BA Fairmonts...Too much work I suppose...you could put a EF Dash in maybe? I know someone's done it...

how about this it would require a fair bit of hacking up but would be kind of good... you don't really need the centre air vents so just get rid of them and modify it so thats where your head unit is. then you've got that nice big area below to play with and can probably make it so you still have the woodgrain surrounding it.

Jaycar have an in-dash LCD screen that you MAY be able to use. It fits in a normal DIN size slot and pulls out and folds up when in use. If the computer has a composite video out you may be able to connect that to the Jaycar screen. Don't know if you had something like this in mind?

No, it's composite video only. I thought I'd mention it just in case it may be useful because it's such a neat little unit.

My old mounting spot for the carputer screen is attached.

It now sits where the boost gauge used to live, on the side of the trans tunnel.

Im having the same dilemma about where to put mine.

How hard would it be to make a bracket that it can be put aside into a 2nd din slot or even push aside elsewhere then pulled out when you want it?

Will yours replace your headunit InitialD? Or is it just an extra?

That would be perfect, its a shame they are out of stock, a regular in dash screen is no good but one that sits away from the pocket like that would be a perfect fit!

I am trying to work out where to put a touch LCD screen in a BA with the standard sound system console....

Any suggestions?
I think the only real option is over the front of the existing display with a hinge bracket....

i remember reading a while back in a magazine and seeing this guy made a custom one, fittin both a tv and cd player in there
unless u dont want to pay money for it, only thing i can think of doin is cuttin another hole :P
