Smile The Vic roadtrip to adelaide.....

Due to a house warming party of XRChic and Cobra, I decided i'd go for a weekend to SA, after searching for a partner in crime, Neb took up my offer to tag along.

while the trip wasnt as doomed as the recent SA road trip to melb, we had a great time

to set something straight, my EF was flawless (for once) and costed a total of $110 in LPG. (not bad considering it was close to 60cpl!!!)

so anyway!

arriving there at 6pm on friday evening, we awaiting the cruise at 9pm..
a massive thanks to montyV8 for planning the cruise, wasnt a bad turnout at all and i was really glad to meet most of the SA people in face finally.
The cruise was hillarious, some may recall the expressway and more importantly the VT full of leb's! dammit i want my turbo!
the one and only pic i got of the cruise line up (few cars not in pic)

a very entertaining evenin ended at 4am after taking Barry_v's ZC fairlane out for a cruise, a classy beast it is, but i don't recommend sitting in the back too long, you'll come out lop sided.

a pic of the ZC :P

Saturday was the day of the House warming party, myself, neb, montyv8, monty's wife, walkinshaw, barry_v packed into 2 cars and hooned around at 5pm, with tonnes of food supplied by XRchic and Cobra, it kept everyone happy (cheese cake anyone!)
seriously... there was loads of food.. but anyway!

we drove back today and i've decided i'm deffinately going back.
hopefully we'll be able to get a few people to come over too

I'd just like to extend a VERY big thanks to Walkinshaw for shackin us up for the 2 nights, it was very much appreciated!
also thanks to phil and barry for the entertainment :P
i was never bored!
and finally thanks to Ben for comin with me, the 8 hour drives woulda been shockin otherwise :/

OH!
and said town sign is still available, too much traffic ;)

I'd just like to say I had a great time too, big thanks to Dan (Walkinshaw) for letting us stay at his place (probably the best accommodation in adelaide, got treated like kings!)

Also a few things I learnt on the weekend:

1. Adelaide has more cops than Melbourne does
2. Adelaide light poles/power line poles are made out of 2 steel beams with concrete inbetween them
3. Most of their street lights are yellow (purposely not faded)
4. Adelaide e-series drivers are hoons
5. They have BBQs for every meal
6. Barry's ZC is an awesome cruise car
7. Walkinshaw needs a 5speed badly
8. The hill coming into adelaide is heaps of fun
9. Adelaide's only freeway is called the expressway and only goes one way
10. All of the other streets are 60 speed limited
11. Adelaide's main city street's are similar to Melbourne's chapel street
12. Coopers is good!
13. Farmers Union iced coffee is good!
14. Animals are attracted to John's car (hit a magpie on the way to Adelaide, ran over a lizard on the way back to Melbourne, and thousands of bugs coated over his front bar and windscreen)
15. Adelaide's peak hour traffic is Melbourne's normal traffic
16. I'm better at pool then South Australians :P

Yeah that's all I can think of at the moment, was a great weekend was good to meet all the SA guys. Will be happy to come back again soon!

Well put neb.
and don't forget the murder scene we went past.
and the countless broken down EA/EB's we seen on the hills.
the commodores are all driven by tools.
brocky's crazy

Haha, you learnt well Ben ;) Just a couple more things for you haha...
1. Yes there is more of a police presence, but they have a tolerence of around 10% over there still rather than our 3km/h...
2. Yes, them weird power poles are called "stobie" poles, as opposed to power or light poles. I bag the crap out of my SA friends when they come to Melbourne about it; i'm constantly correcting them saying "It's not a bloody STOBIE pole, it's a POWER pole!"

I learnt stuff over there too, like the fact that SA drivers are so laid back that if you overtake someone coz they're going too slow, they get annoyed. And should you brake any harder than putting a feather on the brakes, they get extremely shirty, as opposed to melbourne where it seems it's the norm to slam the anchors on randomly!
Oh, and how bad are those big yellow lumps on the road?! You know the ones, they usually cover the cross hatched white line bit before you enter a turning lane... You wouldn't want to hit one accidently, they're huge!

We installed those especially for when the Vics come over, this allows us to cruise at slow speeds without vics trying to overtake us at these points, thus having to avoid hitting the brakes harder than a feather.

all pretty laid back really.

19. S.A. has an area with streets with pirate names? reminds me of 'birdsville' in hoppers crossing all of the streets are named after birds
20. Chris can't drive

Bwahahahaha @ ben getting locked in the bathroom.

21. Chris is lazy and still doesn't have his bodykit fitted.
22. Chris ran himself over while unloading NC from trailer (speculation at this point)
23. Roads when you hit SA trick you into thinking they have great roads..... then u realise you might have a puncture.

They're specially designed to make your exhaust systematically louder every time you hit one.

Trucks like to flick them into your windscreen too.

I've seen a couple of cars in those arrester beds, and seen a truck use one for emergency braking. Trust me - they're worth having!

A truck with no brakes wouldn't stop until the city - its all downhill from glen osmond to the city.

I think you guys have summed up SA pretty well there. A few points worthy of noting tho:

-The only reason you would have seen so many police is because of the long weekend...
-Stobie poles are solely responsible for the low population down here and are responsible for more deaths than our many serial killers.
-Dont ever head south on the expressway on a weekday morning ;)
-The road into Adelaide is also a freeway (aouth eastern freeway)...
-The yellow lumps in the middle of the road can be removed to allow a correct line through a frequently used corner ;)
- Farmers Union Iced Coffee is made by a victorian company
