Default srteering wheel shake at speed

Hi all, have a LS Zetec that has a pretty bad steering wheel shake at speeds above 90kmh, had new tyres fitted and re balanced and still there. The car is lowered on pedders coilovers, so any thoughts??? Was also doing it with the old tyres.....

try another place for a wheel Alignment & Balance. I had the same problem & when I went to another place for an alignment & they sorted it.

Get it done asap or you may wear the tyres unevenly & then you wont get it out till the next set.

I had that in my old lancer - I had a wheel that was out of round (from factory)!
After the dealer who sold me the rims and tyres couldnt find it after 3 wheel alignments, another mob found the issue!
Hit any large potholes recently?

Also check the tyres are beaded on the rims evenly. That causes an out of round situation with steering shake as you describe. The tyre guy simply pops them off the rims and re-fits to fix.

The zetec rims seem vulnerable to this , I've has 2 sets of tyres where this happened.

Cheers

My LV was doing this from factory, at 100km.h on certain crappy country road surfaces, the steering wheel would wobble left and right slightly.

My LT TDCI with zetec wheels -steering wheel wobbles left and right even from 20km/hr. Tyes -original Goodyears at 51000 show no sign of wear. The wobble does not go away even after 2 balances at 2 different tyre dealers.

I have always assumed the tyres are ''out of round'' and have decided to put up with it till the tyres wear out-however that would seem to be 20-30000kms away yet.

Should I get a tyre dealer to check the beads to rims scenario?

On tyres my wifes LT needs a new set - I was going to go Mastercraft (owned by Cooper tyres who make very good 4wd tyres) as they are guaranteed for 70000km. But a tyre guy suggested Toyo- will Toyo give a long life -not worried about handling -most of our driving is straightline freeway work.

ok I should give you more info, I had the car lowered futher by about 15mm more so it now sits about the same hight as it would be with superlows, and the tyres/rims rotated front to back and now the vibration is bad I reakon about 5-6mm of side to side movement on the steering, so not sure what is going on. As I said it was happening with the old tyres/rims and the new ones Kuhmo KU31 were only fitted on friday so I don't think its a balance thing.....
