help! Does this price sound right?

Hi guys. Looking at converting my EB monty to manual. Anyway, rang up a major place here in Adelaide and was quoted $1350 fitted or $1750 fitted with a new clutch. Now I'm no mechanic so I have no idea if this is around the ballpark. I don't mind paying the cash, just don't want to pay more than I have to. Thanks

well if you were in melbourne you could get a 2nd hand conversion for aroun 700 and then get it fitted by forum members for beer n bbq. then add oil ontop of that.

rpd did manual conversions for 1800 fully fitted also when they were in business (i think it was them) so that price is fair for fitted with all new parts

new clutch kit however is like 300odd bucks so i guess including installation its okay,,, but if u can source the parts yourself and organise members off here to lend a hand it can be done for around 900 all up or less

Theres a full kit on ebay for $1000 at the moment.
Complete T5 Manual conversion kit, out of an EB Series 2 Falcon XR6.

Includes -

Near new clutch
5 Spd Manual Gearbox (with bellhousing)
Shifter with boot
6 Bolt Flywheel
Pressure Plate
Throwout Bearing
Tailshaft

fyi i might have a complete conversion for 750 but i might end up using it, very confused atm on whether i should use it on my car or get a new car hehehe

Yeah i know what you mean. I'm still in two minds whether I want to spend the cash on the monty or buy something newer. It's been a really good car to me and always reliable but it is now 15 years old. I want a manual. Just got to decide whether I spend the cash on the monty or put it towards something newer, even an EL XR6/8.

My T5 conversion totalled about $600, but I had a heap of e-series members help out. Therefore the cost of labour was a couple dozen snags, some beer, and softdrink

Yeah I might have to round up some Adelaide members!!

BTW, when you converted, what was it like when you first drove ur monty in manual form?

It was a great feeling! I had driven manual e-series before (my parents have one), but it was still great to feel the huge improvements in performance and driving enjoyment. I've always been a manual fan, and I was completely sick of the auto (which was knocking on death's door anyway). I regard it as the best mod I have ever done to my car. Well worth it!

I spent around $600 and with two mates and 4 hours later i was showing commodors what a real car is.
