I dont know if this has been done before, but since there are a few threads floating about on the efforts or lack thereof from Fords marketing department on the new FG series, I thought it would be interesting to know what car ads have been made that had an impact and which ones you really remembered long after they went off the air
Did these ads have any effect on what make/model etc you considered buying in the future? For me, I really like the Toyota Ads - these seem to strike a nerve, particularly the Bugger Ad, the 200 Kilowasps and the latest Hilux Ad with the natives using it to collect coconuts. Also the mitsubishi ads are quite good as well.

I like the recent Lamborghini ad that showed it drifting, circle work, etc. There was a bit of outcry over it as it gave out the image of unsafe driving etc.

The Valiant Charger ads in the mid 70's. I was in my early teens and they still stick in mind.
Hey! Charger! Check the price... Still from $2795.00 |

I like the toyota adds with the AFL legends. Very memorable.
One that I've always liked was the the VY (or VZ?) Storm ute, doing doughies in the field in a thunderstorm while ACDC's "thunderstruck" played. I think that was the last of the good car adds before they couldn't show off stuff like that.

The AWD Magna add that showed an AU XR8 and VX SS spinning when trying to turn a corner on dirt sticks in my mind. : Perhaps for the rage it induced because of such a blatantly misleading representation of the product. :jab:

I always remember XC 1/2 Falcons slalom between race drivers.
And the ad for alloy head XD i think where a bloke was whinging about his crappy econo-car he bought "But it does have four cylinders" then his mate tells him falcon is as cheap to run (Perhaps Ford could revisit that?) The old nissan bluebird (pinball machine and "shes getting ready fro TRX") and mitsu sigma (burst thru mirror) ads were cool. |

What about the Mitsubishi Magna ad with the puppet kid in the back seat complaining and eventually falling asleep?

Definitely the Holden Ute ad 'Thunderstruck', first time I took my Storm to work the boys wanted to take it out on the dry lake and reenact the ad!
Also the 'Bugger' ad, didn't make me want to be a Toyota, but definitely memorable! The only Ford one that really sticks to mind at the moment is the Territory one with all the mums going 'nice rig'.

Ford F250 ad pulling the seriously bogged (submerged) road train out of the mud, then offering them the lend of a chamois.
Also the Falcon ute ads on the dry lake bed (salt flats)
