Hi guys and gals
New to this forum so hi and hoping you can help. I have a 2007 LS XR5T in Performance Blue. Enquired at my local Ford dealership about touch up paint (it's a very small scratch) who advised it's not available 'cause the vehicle was imported. I find it hard to believe no touch up paint exists since the vehicle was marketed and sold by Ford Australia with an XR badge on it, despite it being an import. Many thanks for your help if anyone knows anymore...? Otherwise, love the XR5 and previously owned a BA XR6T which was also an excellent vehicle and a real performer. Cheers Ant |

I had to buy a touch up set (the brush type) from the UK because the local dealer couldn't get me one. They could only get me the paint in a spray can.
It was for performance blue aswell BTW. |

It only took 5 days anyway and was a proper Ford EU kit with the clearcoat aswell.
Take a look on Ebay for a seller called Pyemotors - they have reasonable shipping rates to Australia. |

Your local paint store will be able to mix you up a touchup kit (just quote the paint code), I've done it several times...

Thanks all for the responses - very much appreciated.
Will chase up these ideas ! I knew the prospect of getting a batch made up by a paint store was real, however I thought the colour would have been available. Until next time, cheers guys Ant |

I believe dangerous goods legislation either bans or makes it INCREDIBLY difficult to import paint.
Ever wondered why there's so many Aussie made paint companies surviving when just about everything else is imported? FWIW I believe you can still buy touch up paint for locally built models.

Found this - interestingly disproves part of my point but does manage to suggest that more powerful forces are at play (as always)
