Post Vehicle Info Pages - Assistance Requested

G'day all.

Just adding content to the Eurofordclub website, which has undergone some major changes lately.

I am doing Vehicle Info Pages, which will give new comers to Eurofords the opportunity to find out information about our vehicles. This will include dates the vehicles went on sale, trim levels and differences between them, designations (ie WP etc), how to spot the difference between the vehicles, vital statistics like engines, power, stud pattern and offset, and of course photos of them!

An example is the Mondeo page that I have made up:
Mondeo Vehicle Info Page

For starters, if anyone knows the Mondeo wheel offset, please post it! I think it is identical to the Focus and Fiesta but I am not sure.

Secondly, if any enthusiasts of vehicles can help me out with other things, I'd really appreciate it. The information can be damn hard to find thru google, so if you know something about the cars, please post it here! Regardless of how insignificant it seems.

For instance:
The WP Fiesta was sold between xxx and xxx
The WP was followed by the WQ, which sold between xxx and xxx
The XR4 went on sale on xxx
A limited edition Focus was released called the Focus R
The Focus R had a larger ring wing and unique badging
Xxxx was changed between the WP and WQ
etc.

The pages for the Fiesta, Focus, and Cougar are next, so post any snippets on information you can think of no matter how small, they will all assist me make the best page possible. For exampl,e a suggestion I just thought of was to make reference to the fact that the new Mondeo may be returning to Australia. Not a huge piece of info, but worthy of inclusion.

I am not going to concentrate on the XR4 or XR5 much because there are two great sites dedicated to the cars, but i do want to include them in the pages to make people aware they exist, in case they have been living on another planet. However, I will make mention of, and links to, the XR4 and XR5 sites for more info for those cars, so don't feel like I am trying to muscle in on your territory.

Just working hard on making our club site the best information source for people wanting to buy eurofords, and keeping it the kick-a$$ place it is.

Regards, Tim

Thanks, yeah I have checked them out. I find Australia is always a subnote though, so the engines outputs are always wrong for us, and they don't get into anything technical in the slightest like stud patterns, offsets.

Great suggestion though, I appreciate it! More! More! ;)

Big effort Tim.

The Focus R was a special edition put together by the marketing department at Ford, based on the Zetec, when Ford was basically in runout of the LR model. It was a way of clearing the higher priced zetec, and clear some of the accessories

It had the factory body kit (designed in, and unique to, Australia I understand) with a Focus RS rear wing (or copy of..not sure) It had MP3 17" wheels, ST170 pedals, stainless "look" brake handle and gear knob (From Focus accessory range). I think it came with cruise and leather wheel as well. All as standard on the Focus R. Cheap vinyl "R" badges. (Marketing department wanted metal badges, but product development wouldn't produce them I understand!!)

Others may know more

G'day mate. I did get your email and replied, it must have been lost in the ether. We did have a problem with the forums registration, but I have since removed the requirement for the activication email. I have deletd your first account, the one awaiting activication, so try registering again.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks mate, champion stuff. Going right into the Focus page.

The problem is wikipedia is terribly inaccurate for Aussie cars, and once these pages are set up they will be fairly easy to maintain when new models come along. They should be a great source of info for people looking to buy a Euroford, or for finding out wheel offsets or stud patterns. If nothing else, they will help document the history of the car in Australia.

I have the Cougar page 90% completed, thanks to Abraxas for his unlimited wealth of knowledge there. A thanks goes out to Wulos for the headers. And a big Sucked In to PHPNuke, I managed to hack your code to make you do what I wanted for once. Finally got that banner centered too, after much struggle fighting some over-riding force.

Re Mondeo offset
The offsets listed in my "bible" for Mondeos between '96 and 2000 vary from 47mm and 49.5mm, a little bit lower than most Focus' but only by a couple of mm.
hope this helps,
Cheers,
Carey

Zetec R was also standard with unique Zetec R Carpet mats. The Rear wing was a genuine RS rear wing, which is not even available individually through Ford Dealers in Australia. It came only as a 5 door model also, and only made in Colorado Red, Machine Silver, Panther Black and Ink Blue.

The factory C170 (Focus LR) chassis/bodyshell is stiffer than a rally-prepared Escort bodyshell! No joke. The Focus was genuinely built to win World Rallies from day one.

While not complete yet, if anyone gets time to read through the Focus page at what is written so far, can you let me know if you see any typos or incorrect information please?

Especially the part about the SR Focus if anyone knows anything about them.

Thanks - Timmeh

I have been told the LS Focus stud pattern is 5x108, does anyone have the offset by any chance?

Brilliant. Just to let you know, on the LR, the entire LR bodyshell is stiffer than the old Rally Escort, not just the ST170, the entire range!!!

If any LS Focus owners know their offset, let me know! ;)

Otherwise the Focus page is almost complete.

Ok, here's the Cougar specs and special info

SW - 1999 through to 2001
SX - Apr 2001 through 2002

Standard stuff
16" Alloy Wheels, 4 Speaker Stereo, ABS (Antilock Brakes), Adjustable Steering Col. - Tilt only, Air Cond. - Climate Control, Airbags - Driver & Passenger (Dual), Airbags - Side for 1st Row Occupants (Front), Alarm, Body Colour - Bumpers, Body Colour - Fittings, Central Locking - Remote/Keyless, Control - Traction, Disc Brakes Front Ventilated, Disc Brakes Rear Solid, EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), Electric Seat - Drivers, Engine Immobiliser, Fog Lamps - Front, Leather Gear Knob, Leather Steering Wheel, Power Door Mirrors, Power Steering, Power Windows - Front only, Radio Cassette, Spoiler - Rear, Tacho, Trip Computer

Optional:
Leather

SX had bigger cougar badge on the steering wheel. Interior colours were also changed around. silver sections in the centre console and dash were replced with black. Seats were redesigned for the SX so you would actually sit IN them, not on them like the SW. Climate control switches were given the silver surroundings. Also, The SX has the white dials. Exterior, the front bumper differs between the 2 models, with teh SW having amore "smiley" look to it. Alloy wheels also varied slightly between the models.

Thanks though, I'll see what I can find.

I only remember it being in showrooms Timmeh

It had eibach suspension (lowered), a body kit, and the eibach logo on the side skirts. I think it was only available from FTE dealers (Ford Tickford Experience. The precursor to FPV, but only certain dealers were able to carry the FTE range...mainly T1,T2, and T3 TE50's, TS50's and TL50's)

It definitely was a Ford Motor Company product...not just a dealer "special pack"

May have only been available in one colour???Black????? Maybe???

I'll see what else I can find, but I'm sure the cougar boys are aware of it

Woops! Just found this:

Ford Cougar Eibach, launched in August 2000, was a limited edition model aimed at giving extra punch in the visual department as well as even better handling than the standard car. The name came from the Eibach package designed by one of Europe’s best known suspension tuners. The modifications to the Australian Cougar were done by a team drawn from Eibach in Europe, and Tickford Vehicle Engineering and Ford in Melbourne. Only 100 Eibachs were built.

Cougar Eibach sports a lower ride height, different spring ratings, revised shock absorbers Dunlop low-profile FM901 tyres with substantial dimensions of 215/45x17. Certainly these were decent tyres for their time.

Complementing the Eibach’s lower stance is a body kit that’s based on one from Visteon in the USA, but modified by Tickford to give it slightly more ground clearance for Australian road conditions. The kit features an aggressive looking bonnet scoop.

Eibach power comes from the same 2.5-litre V6 engine as used in the rest of the Cougar range and there's a choice of manual or automatic transmission.

Are we talking a Limited Edition Cougar Eibach, or THE Limited Edition Cougar Eibach.

If it's the former, it's the first I've heard and I'll look up some info.

If it's the latter then it came in all colours available for the standard Cougar, however, the bodykit was a different colour to the body. Usually the kit was grey with "Eibach Springs" logos on the front of the sideskirts.

Most common colours I've seen for Eibach Cougar's are Rio Red and Spruce Green, with dark grey front lip and sideskirts. The rear wing was the same colour as the car, as was the bonnet scoop. Eibach Cougar's were only available as an SW 2000 model, though some later models did have the Eibach wing installed, I'm assuming these were probably some leftovers and the dealers fitted them as 'specials' or something.

Also, ALL Cougar's were only available through FTE Dealers. It has been rumoured that Ford sold them this way as a 'cover' if sales never really took off.

Dan, i think i remember the different colour body kit. There was one Eibach back in 2000 at the local ford dealer from memory. Dad was looking at it back then and i distinctly remember it being Red with grey/silver skirts. Rims were also special too. If i find anything ill post

Yes, you're right. Eibach Cougar's wore the ST200 17" rims with the previously mentioned 215/45/17 tyres. Aside from exterior cosmetics and Eibach suspension, they were the same as the other Cougar's. I think all this has been covered on the info pages on EFC, as I'm pretty sure I relayed the info over!

Rumoured that only 100 were produced for sale in Australia. I think we have 3 or so onboard either with the EFC or on these forums.

For more info in the 'Buying a Cougar' section, it might be notable to take into consider the things that go wrong with the cars. The problems I've had with mine have been mirrored countless times with our American counterparts, including my recent door actuator problem, which could cost around $600 to fix if there is no warranty to cover the situation. Unfortunately, most Cougar's will be out of their original factory warranty, so most will not have the extension applied to them. If they do - that is worth GOLD!

It's not a matter of maintenance on the vehicle either, things do break or wear down and unfortunately, in a Cougar they can be expensive to replace or repair.

Dan
