Has anybody tried these kits in their AU? i'm thinking about getting the planinum kit for my AU2 Fairmont Ghia, and would like some feedback before i hand over the $399.

why are they so expensive for a Filter , Plugs and Leads ..
Id Buy it all Seperatly

I got splitfire leads they were around the $240 mark from memory, and spark plugs were a little over $130. My KnN filter was $132 before I went to a pod set up.
Leads and plugs IMO worth the money. |

lol dont expect 100hp or something, the only thing I noticed with my car was that it was smoother, smoother when driving, smoother to rev, smoother to idle, smoother power delivery....

You will probably notice improvements, mainly from going to new plugs and leads, and not the actual performance properties of the plugs and leads themselves.
If you google "splifire legal" there is an interesting entry in wheellegal. Apparently they lost a complaint against them for making power increasing claims which could not be backed up.

seen on a street fords dvd, they put that kit on a XH or Xg ute and it gained 9rwkw i think

$300+ for plugs and leads? you have to be joking. Stiddy, you say they made an improvment, but out of curiousity, what plugs and leads did they replace and how old were they?

I replaced the stock leads and plugs that came with the car. Got the car with 68,000k's and replaced them at around 100-110,000k's.
I had previously changed plugs before then, only with cheapies at the time. But never changed the leads. So when I did change the plugs and leads with quality items such as the splitfire you could definately notice an improvement. |

Yeah, but what I'm getting at is, you would have had an improvment getting a $60 set of bosch or topguns and $10 worth of plugs. Same probably applies to the car on the street fords dvd

No doubt, I put Topgun leads and NGK iridiums in my sisters falcon and there was a noticeable improvement aswell. Not as much as my car, but my sister said she felt the difference and noticed a pick up in fuel economy.
I just heard that splitfire were the best on the market aside from custom made ones and thought i'd give them a go, and was suprised and happy with the outcome. Plus also seeing that DVD swayed my desicion somewhat. |

Stockoau the reason this kit is more expensive is it's the platinum kit, it comes with irridium plugs and better leads(dual core i believe) as well as a washable air filter. so yeah a little pricey, but i've tried all the others b4 in my ED so i thought i'd give these a go in the new car.

and you don't need irridium plugs in an au 6. it takes all of 5 minute to replace them, so just replace them at every service. The only time I'd use irridium plugs is in a car where the plugs are not as easy to access

Hey i'm just tryin the kit out, no harm in that. $399 isn't exactly gunna send me broke, but if thats too much for you then by all means keep buying your spares from kmart....

Funny, I just hope its been a while since leads and plugs have been replaced on your car. Otherwise you will be dissapointed.
