I own a 1991 Fairmont Ghia with power external rear view mirrors. I need to be able to access the inner workings of the mirror - not the electrical components, but the mechanicals in behind the actual mirror itself. How can I remove the mirror glass so I can access the "workings" of the mirror.
The reason is because its movement is jerky and noisey. I believe that either the little cogs if they exist are damaged or there is a lot of dust inside the mirror casing. : |

mine dose the same thing, i don't think you can remove the mirror glass tho, unless there's a screw behind it and that will be hard to undo, so i think you will have to do what i do and that is out up with it :( hope this helps

one of mines a little bit jerkey as well. I haven't tried to pull mine apart, but if you take off the mirror cover (I think it's just clipped on), chances are, there could be screws behind it. I wouldn't put too much faith into what I'm saying though
