Default What should I look out for?

My brother and I were looking for a first car for him and we found an EB Fairmont at a local yard for $3000 with rw and a couple of weeks rego. It's done only 118,000 kms so headgasket shouldn't be a problem for a good while yet, but I just wanted to know if there's anything I should have a look for when I go back to check it out. I've got an ED so I have an idea of what to look for, but I also know there were many changes made between the two models.

Actually if it hasn't been done yet it's likely to go soon I'd say. Lot's of E-series do their headgasket around the 100-120,000K mark. Other than that it seems like a pretty reasonable price for the K's. Is it a series 2 EB?

also if it is a manual, make sure it goes into reverse without any crunching, or popping out of reverse.

Sounds like a good pick up mate get it. Look for the basics like pads, fluid levels, steering, give the brakes some punches. listen to the transmission the diff and engine when you take it for a test drive make sure you guve it abit of stick to off the line and at 60+ aswell. That rego is the only problem make the price $3500 so on those terms get him down considering you have to pay the rego within a couple of weeks. Offer him $2600 that sounds about right!

well a fairmont is supposed to be a luxury car so a manual would disrupt the luxuriousness a bit. i hope i spelt that word right
