*front brake pads - $255.00
*rear brake pads - $185.00
*auto service - $165.00
*middle and rear muffler parts - $480.00, Labour - $128.25
*thermostat housing seal $35.00
*4 Tyres - $175.00
*brake flush - $65.00

could get a replacement disc for that
get aftermarket pads and fit yourself
flush the brake fluid yourself, aswell as adjust the handbrake

I took the BA ute to the local ford mob for a 15k service.

I bought it used with 8k on the clock and it had flat spots on the front tyres.

They quoted $185.00 + GST to replace the tyres.
Last time i looked "dunlop Monzas" werent worth that much....fitted.

Take their recommendations and get the stuff done at a reputable repairer....quoted upfront.....then compare.

For a DIY fanatic, that makes me sick.Thermostat housing seal? I made one out of gasket paper. Those prices are quite expensive in my opinion.

In brackets is what you would roughly pay at a non-ford dealership

*handbrake adjust - $45.00 (This should be thrown in for nothing)
*I recently did an auto service to my EF ghia, cost me $30.00 DIY
*Machined front rotors with new pads (EBC greens) on my EL inc new bearings, grease and seals, cost me $45.00 DIY all mates rates
*Replaced my entire exhaust with a standard one (from cat to tip for nothing) off a forums member for $0
*Handbrake is a 2 second job with a flat head screwdriver
*Drive belt should take no time, belts are cheap

Ford are a complete rip off, I had a service go over the 1000 dollar mark, and they still got nothing right, transmission service (they didnt put enough oil in poor shifting after), new brake pads and adjustment (handbrake not working after service, fine before), injector clean (rough idle still there).

Oh my god! How can they get away with charging that much?

No one knows your Ford like we do, or charges like we do????

Thats why they charge what they do. False sense of security in handing your Ford over to the so-called "experts".

Yeah experts. I had a squeaky rear wheel in my AUIII ute and the local Ford dealer incorrectly replaced the front left disk, thinking it was rubbing and warped past machining (6mths old at the time..?). When I told them the squeal was in the back and not front, they blamed it on a design fault with the handbrake and simply used an anti-squeal lube (whatever that is) to temporarily stop it. I complained to Ford but...warranty is now over and I have to live with it. Otherwise good ute all round.

The Service mngr also rambled that the BA doesn'thave the same fault, but I have heard my fair share of them squeak and / or rub - plenty of Commodores too for that matter.

For some reason my AU XR8 doesn't have the problem.

Sh#t that is amazing! You are getting screwed. I know 2 really good mechanics bayside Brisbane. You can buy the parts you want & they will put them in. Cheaply & honestly. I suggest you do PM racecraft asap! If not I will give you a hand just PM me. (We are talking an AU not a Mercedes Benz)E

My dads ba sedan has handbrake faults and my AU doesn't. Whenever you drive with the windows down in dads all you can hear is 'shh shh shh shh shh' from the crap handbrake. Been back to ford 3 times and they fix it and it comes back after 200km.

Ford are such rip offs, and its not like you're paying for quality work either. they do a half assed job. Dads XR6T has had 29 warranty claims, and most of them have only been fixed bodgily and come back..

Thank you guys for letting me know about how much everything SHOULD cost, and i can assure you i won't be taking my AU back to ford ever again. e
I pm'd racecraft and he's gonna help me out :

they would want to suck and f*** for those prices.
I was on hols on gold coast the other week , and front brake pads got low.
Midas machined my front discs, and fitted Bendex Ultimate pads for $200.
And those were the original pads and had done 104'000kms, and the back ones have still got half the meat on them still.
its all way overpriced as everyone else has said.
you could get a sports system for $400 fitted !

new exhaust goes on next wednesday.
Its a 2.5" sports exhaust with resonator and it cost $255 installed. Plus i will also be getting twin tips put on it, the guy said they range from about $70-$120 for twin tips which isn't bad.
HEAPS better than ford $608.25 for a stock exhaust.. lol

Ford dealer tried to charge me for Fuel addative, in a dedicated gas AUIII, I just asked them to show me how they put it in, they looked at me as if I was a complete idiot (not doubting that), and said "we just pour it into the tank", so I opened the fuel flap, and said "show me how", seen some red faces after that.

im SERIOUSLY considering voiding my harrier warranty by going elsewhere for my services...
the fact i live at Morayfield (40 mins north of brisbane) and i have to take it to the valley (40 mins away in middle of brisbane)
and the fact i asked for a TRANSMISSION SERVICE and they gave me a flush.. which they call a service??...

the fact it takes a while to go into reverse(if u press the accelerator just after shifting into R it will rev up THEN go into gear and throw ya forward... and it always has been the same before and after the "service/flush"
and still shifts hard and makes some weird noises when you let off after accelerating hard

the car has done just under 95k kays and does NOT have a towbar.. and was purchased from metro used at moorooka

stupid ford..

My fairlane does EXACTLY the same thing! I reported it to them at my 100k km service and they reported that they could not fault it. At the same service they also did a 'transmission service' and it has made no difference at all.

Now i noticed yesterday that it is getting worse, because while i was waiting for it to go into reverse, it used to hold the car from rolling forward as it should. Yesterday i did it on a flat surface and the car rolled forward before slamming into reverse!

Im afraid my gearbox may be on its way out, and its only got 109,000 KMs on it :(

Yeah... our BA E-Gas company wagon's last service included the "fuel addative" in the invoice ... Boss didnt notice it until he got it back to the office..

Anyways, He calls them up... and it went something a little like this..

"Whats this fuel addative on the invoice"
"Ohh, its the fuel addative we put in the fuel tank"
"ohh, i tried putting some in a few months ago, but i couldnt do it"
"you just put it in your tank, its quite simple"
"well, i tried pushing that little ball bearing thing in, and it was very hard"
(at that stage, they still didnt get it)
"What ball bearing think are you refering to"
"well, you pop the fuel cap, and there's a round thing which a ball bearing thingy in it"
(the penny drops)
"well sir, it seems we have mischarged you, as your car is running LPG, we will credit that immediately"

.. Quite funny, But i believe its a standard service item on EVERY invoice..... Which makes me think, do they really put fuel addative in your tank..
