Question 1991 KF Laser Jumping While Accelerating

Hi All,

I own a 91 KF Laser 1.6 Carby Manual.

On my way into work this morning about 15 minutes after starting off the car started to jump when accelerating. It seems most pronounced at 1/6-1/2 throttle. If I floor it it seems OK but a bit sluggish.

Also when I revved the car in neutral at part throttle it would almost stall before revving.

This made taking off quite jerky.

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

It doesn't happen all the time either. Maybe once every 3-4 weeks.

Cheers
Sam

Thanks for the reply.

I might take a look at the carby on the weekend. Anything to look out for when I do?

Cheers
Sam

just spray wd 40 around the carby pivot points

start the car without the air filter on and see if the top butterfly opens

see if you have a clean air filter
clean the battery terminals

pop out in the dark lift the hood and start the motor
look for arcing at the coil cap or sparkling leads
