Default K&N Break Through price!

There will be a good bragin coming up at Repco starting on the 30th with K&N air filters to suit most commodores and of course our AU's. Only 99 dollars each, trust me thats well below cost price.

anyways hope it helps anyone thinking of getting a K@N filter for a decent price.

I just scored one off ebay for $80. But $99 is way cheap, the last one I bought was $119 (Autobarn 20% off special).

the cheapest ive seen k&n's is for around $60, but it was a 4" neck pod type filter. Ordered from rocket industries, the same place autobarn/repco gets them maybe.

Rob, I have had a pod setup on the wagon for 18 months, and am going back to K&N 33-2015 (flat panel). The pods end up clogged very quickly, and don't really clean up as good as the K&N panel filters do. So you may want to keep yours, in case he changes his mind in 3 or 4 months or so.

yeah its just that the airbox lid got squashed and shattered.
so he had to make up this littel contraption for an air filter. just some flexi piping stuff from ricer barn and an SAAS pod, with the pod in the bottom half of the airbox pointing right where the snorkel meets the box.
I dont know if its good or not.. but it sounds bloody unreal under throttle though!

I want to put my BA airbox and piping in from my ghia, there are some issues with bonnet clearance, but it DOES shut!
Just need to buy some of that good bendy rubber piping.

Welcome to the forums! Go for a K&N & ALSO AN EL GT SNORKEL FROM YOUR FORD DEALER! I would also reset the ECU check out aufalcon.com under the workshop section! You are using too much fuel, the above will help.

Welcome to the forum!

How long ago were the spark plugs replaced? It sounds simple but plugs really make a big difference. You could check your leads also.

You could also try a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. You may simply have got a crappy batch of fuel.

Also have a look at the air filter. It could be clogged up bad which would not help either.

Look at these items first, because they are the more simple and cheap.

Hope that helps. All the best with it.

Ive got a pod set up on mine and i found this aswell.. clogs up very fast..
im considering going back to a panel..
i did have a KnN panel which i got for $132, and it got dirty, and did have chunky bits on it, but it dosnet get anywhere near as bad as a pod does..

which ones got more surface area? pod or panel?

The pod being circular probably has more surface area. But when you look at the standard air boxes being run on 347 strokers etc, and they use a flat panel (K&N or paper), I don't think the panel filter is that restrictive. In fact, the pod is really only good for increased induction noise - I think pod or K&N Panel (or Dragon, BMC etc) probably flow the same. Just from a cleanliness angle, the pods seem to clog up more - maybe because they are circular!

on my mates SV8 today on the dyno, we tried it with and without the KnN panel..
195.7rwkw without the filter
194.9rwkw with the filter

so theres not much restriction with these KnN panels..

but the induction sound is nice lol..you do get a change in tone even with a KnN over a standard paper filter aswell.. either way KnN are fairly good

I did similar with my XR8 - BMC CDA Vs pod filter in box Vs no box at all - the difference was all of 2 rwkw, IIRC.

but to be fair, surely the ECU would need a chance to remap itself to any improvements in the volume of air? Pulling it out and doing a power run doesn't give the ECU any chance to relearn?

Yes, you may be right there. I actually didn't think of that, though the ECUs are supposed to be constantly adapting. I know one a full reset, it can take up to 100kms to relearn, but have no idea what effect fiddling with the filter type really makes to the ECU. Perhaps the results of bugger-all are valid, as the filters are really not much of a restriction.???

Beauty. Thanks for the tip off XR6007.
Been meaning to get a K&N for a while for Nikk's XR8, so I know where I'll be on the 30th...

I seen at the AU dyno day Tornado's TE S3 gain 4rwkw changing from stock to a BMC filter in a few minutes so I gather the ECU learns fairly quick.

Got one this morning, for $99 as reported.
Was funny too, coz they (Repco) didn't even know they were on sale!!
Had to go and check on the price, coz, quote, "$99 is waaaaaaaaaaay to cheap..." HAHA!!
All was cool when they checked the new 'sale list' that started today.

Thanks again XR6007!!
